Job summary

Synergy is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to perform functional and integration testing on a server-based UI application. You will interpret requirements, develop test plans, and ensure high product quality throughout the SDLC.

Responsibilities include creating test cases from user stories, executing tests, and collaborating with designers, developers, and product stakeholders. This remote role offers career growth and opportunities to mentor junior teammates within an Agile team.

About the Role:

Synergy is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer. As a Quality Assurance Engineer you will be performing for functional testing and Integration Tests via a server-based application User Interface. The right candidate will have a working knowledge of software engineering concepts such as software development standards, quality assurance standards, and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). As a Quality Assurance Engineer you will be able to interpret requirements, develop test plans and test cases, and test software functionality. The role would ensure quality in the product development and participate in client engagements, along with improving product quality assurance practices and supporting business development activities.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Expert Software Quality Assurance Analyst.
  • Provides technical leadership to junior QA analysts.
  • Expert with testing tools and methodologies.
  • Meeting with the software/product designers to determine quality assurance parameters.
  • Defines test plan development guidelines, testing strategies and procedures.
  • Exercises extensive professional experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ensuring the successful deployment of products into production with minimal deficiencies.
  • Responding to requests from the design team and management.
  • Support application deployments, testing activities, and production releases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, architects, QA testers, and product stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, testing artifacts, and implementation guides.
  • Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Assist in mentoring junior team members and sharing knowledge across the scrum team.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with functional, system, regression, and integration testing.
  • Proven experience developing test cases from user stories.
  • Ability to analyze a product for accurate Integration test scenarios.
  • High-level analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Critical thinker.
  • Proven experience with test management tools.
  • Experience with a variety of SDLC and Agile methodologies required.
  • Experience in testing of RESTful APIs, SOAP APIs, and/or web services.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines and report status.
  • Ability to document QA procedures for the team.
  • Ability to validate the deployment of software releases.
  • Proven experience in test planning (including data planning), test scheduling, and test evaluation.
  • Management of defects within a corporate defect tracking system.
  • Ability to obtain Security + Certification, if necessary.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams including New Development and Production Support for field level incidents.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative Agile team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Experience with model-driven apps in Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Experience using Jira.
  • Experience supporting production applications and participating in troubleshooting and incident resolution activities.
Education Requirements:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Required: US Citizen w/ Public Trust or ability to achieve Public Trust Required
Target Salary Range

Compensation for roles at Synergy is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the requirements of the role; level of experience; education and certifications; the individual's combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities; as well as alignment with market data, federal and state laws, and other business and contract considerations. The estimated pay range for this position is: $80,000.00 - $118,000.00. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and represent just one component of Synergy's total compensation package for employees.
