Job summary

Batory Foods is hiring a Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure products meet strict quality standards and regulatory requirements. You will review processes, perform lab checks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation, laboratory calibration, and adherence to food safety programs. Candidates should have a food science background with PCQI/HACCP credentials and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or equivalent; or combination of education & experience.
  • PCQI and HACCP certifications.
  • 5-8 years of experience in food production, manufacturing, processing, and distribution.
  • Knowledge of GFSI and food-safety documentation.
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and technical writing abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform projects assigned by the QA Manager.
  • Collect ingredient samples and conduct quality checks during production; assist with records.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing trucks per shipping/receiving programs.
  • Perform quality checks on raw materials, packaging, finished products and labels; generate Certificate of Analysis.
  • Document and interpret lab results; compare with specs and report safety concerns.
  • Maintain lab equipment calibration schedules and supplies inventory.
  • Coordinate external lab testing and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Report production issues and quality concerns; pause production if needed and inform QA management.
  • Maintain reports and conduct non-compliance investigations; participate in monthly reviews.
  • Provide employee training and maintain records.
  • Implement food safety programs (BRC, HACCP, SOP, SSOPs, Allergen).

QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST
Job Description

The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is responsible for ensuring that products and services meet consistent standards of quality. This role involves reviewing processes, identifying issues, implementing improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform individual or group projects assigned by the QA Manager.
  • Collect samples of ingredients, perform quality checks during production and assist with production records.
  • Inspect incoming and out-going trucks according to shipping and receiving programs.
  • Perform quality checks on incoming raw materials, packaging components, finished products and labels on a timely Generate Certificate of Analysis.
  • Document and interpret lab results, compare to internal specification or vendor/customer specification to ensure product quality is within Discuss and report food safety concerns to related personnel for further action.
  • Maintain lab equipment calibration schedule and inventory of lab supplies.
  • Administer samples sent to outside laboratories and potential Ensure all customer required testing is performed. Follow schedule for environmental monitoring testing program.
  • Report any process errors, product failures, or Follow through with operations regarding production issues and quality concerns. Stop production if needed and communicate information to all management and QA Manager for follow- up actions.
  • Maintain all relevant reports, non-compliance report investigations and conduct monthly management meetings to communicate follow-up procedures.
  • Conduct employee training and maintain records.
  • Implement, manage, and maintain food safety related programs (BRC, HACCP, SOP, SSOPs, Allergen).
Education And Personal Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree, in Food Science or similar; or equivalent combination of education &
  • 5-8 years of experience in food production, manufacturing, processing, and distribution, with a strong background in quality assurance and quality systems.
  • PCQI and HACCP certification
  • Understanding in maintaining food safety related documents and knowledge in GFSI
  • High attention to detail, strong computer and excel
  • Comfortable in a fast paced, changing
  • Strong verbal communication skills, presentation skills and technical writing
  • Can lift 25-50 on
  • Able to work occasional weekends and
  • Able to travel >5% of the
  • Knowledge in performing analytical tests such as pH, brix, HPLC and refractometer
  • Bilingual
