Job summary

Chromalloy is seeking a QA Specialist to ensure aerospace products and processes meet customer requirements, engineering specs, and QMS standards. You will collaborate across manufacturing, engineering and supply chain to investigate quality issues, strengthen processes and deliver conforming products.

The role emphasizes audit support, data analysis and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment at the Tampa site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, metallurgical, aerospace, or related field preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions and apply math/statistics.
• Ability to prepare reports and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with AS9100 and customer/regulatory requirements.
• Lead investigations into nonconforming material and quality issues.
• Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102.
• Develop and maintain inspection plans and quality procedures.
• Analyze quality data and implement corrective actions.
• Support audits and close audit findings.
• Monitor quality metrics and supplier performance.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production and Supply Chain.
• Participate in design reviews and process validations.
• Interpret drawings to determine applicable quality standards.
• Prepare deviation reports and non-conformity documentation.
• Develop methods and standards for inspection and testing.

We're looking for a QA Specialist to help ensure aerospace products and manufacturing processes meet customer requirements, engineering specifications, regulatory requirements and Quality Management System standards. You'll partner across manufacturing, engineering and supply chain to investigate quality issues, strengthen processes and support the delivery of safe, reliable and conforming products.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer and regulatory requirements, and internal quality procedures.
• Lead investigations into nonconforming material, customer escapes and quality system issues using structured problem solving methods such as 8D, root cause corrective action (RCCA) and Five why analysis.
• Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
• Develop, maintain and improve inspection plans, control plans, quality procedures and work instructions.
• Analyze quality performance data and establish corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and process capability.
• Support internal, customer and third party audits, including the timely closure of audit findings.
• Monitor quality and operational metrics, including scrap, rework, yield, on-time delivery and customer complaints.
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Production and Supply Chain to resolve quality concerns and improve manufacturing processes.
• Participate in design reviews, process validation activities and production readiness reviews.
• Interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications to determine applicable quality standards.
• Evaluate data and prepare reports to identify and document deviations from established standards.
• Develop and implement methods and standards for inspection, testing and evaluation.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, metallurgical, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline preferred but not required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, safety requirements and operating instructions.
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to collect and analyze data, establish facts and draw sound conclusions.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions presented in written, mathematical or diagram form.
• Ability to apply mathematical and statistical concepts to practical quality and manufacturing situations.
• Ability to prepare reports and correspondence and communicate effectively with employees and customers.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role works in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and radiation risk. The noise level is typically moderate.

The role frequently requires standing and use of hands to handle tools or controls, with occasional walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. The position requires frequently lifting or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Close, distance, color, peripheral and depth vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus, are required.

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends and or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal state and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience education certifications job related skills internal equity and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
