We’re hiring a Quality Assurance Manager at the Savant Group at our Midland, Michigan headquarters.

You’ll lead and continually improve the Quality Management Systems supporting our ISO 9001-certified manufacturing operations, ISO 17034-accredited reference material production activities, and ISO/IEC 17025-accredited testing laboratory. This is a hands‑on leadership role with responsibility for audits, corrective actions, supplier quality, non‑conforming materials, quality metrics, document control, and continuous improvement.

This role is ideal for an experienced quality professional who can balance compliance with practical business needs, develop quality personnel, work effectively across departments, and confidently address issues that may affect product quality, laboratory results, customer requirements, or accreditation.

Who We Are

The Savant Group isn’t a just one company—it’s a group of specialized businesses that solve complex, technical problems for customers around the world. Headquartered in Midland, Michigan, our companies—Savant Labs, Tannas Company, King Analytics, and the Center for Quality Assurance—build and support precision equipment and testing services used across lubrication, transportation, manufacturing, and energy industries.

What matters more than what we do is how we do it.

What You’ll Own

You’ll provide leadership and oversight for our integrated Quality Management Systems and help ensure our products, reference materials, manufacturing processes, and laboratory results meet applicable customer, certification, accreditation, regulatory, and company requirements.

You’ll lead Quality Assurance personnel and work closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Laboratory, Engineering, Procurement, suppliers, customers, auditors, and executive leadership.

Your mission will be to strengthen quality across the organization, identify and address risk, promote accountability, and help teams continuously improve how work is performed and documented.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead, maintain, and continually improve Quality Management Systems supporting ISO 9001, ISO 17034, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Quality Assurance Technicians and other assigned quality personnel
  • Coordinate certification, accreditation, customer, and other external audits
  • Serve as the primary quality liaison during audits and ensure findings and required follow‑up actions are addressed on time
  • Develop and manage the internal audit program, including audit schedules, reports, corrective actions, and effectiveness reviews
  • Oversee quality manuals, procedures, work instructions, forms, specifications, records, and other controlled documentation
  • Administer nonconformance and corrective‑action processes, including containment, root‑cause analysis, action planning, implementation, and effectiveness verification
  • Oversee quality controls for incoming materials, in‑process work, final product acceptance, laboratory quality control, and nonconforming products or materials
  • Manage quality‑related customer complaints and coordinate timely investigations, responses, corrective actions, and trend reporting
  • Manage supplier‑quality activities, including supplier qualification, performance monitoring, audits, Production Part Approval Processes when applicable, and Supplier Corrective Action Requests
  • Establish and monitor quality objectives and key performance indicators, analyze trends, and communicate significant risks and recommended actions to management
  • Coordinate management review activities and monitor assigned actions through completion
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Laboratory Operations, and Procurement on design reviews, process changes, product development, validation, and quality planning
  • Oversee quality‑system requirements related to the calibration, verification, maintenance, and control of inspection, measuring, and laboratory equipment
  • Facilitate risk assessments, product and process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses, change‑control reviews, and preventive quality‑planning activities
  • Support quality‑related employee training and maintain required competency and qualification records
  • Promote impartiality, confidentiality, data integrity, and objective decision‑making within laboratory and reference material production activities
  • Exercise authority to hold or prevent the release of products, materials, reference materials, reports, or test results when established requirements have not been met
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the organization
  • Travel occasionally to support supplier visits, audits, training, and other business needs
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Chemistry, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible quality assurance or quality management experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, reference material, or similarly regulated environment
  • Demonstrated experience implementing, maintaining, or improving an ISO‑based Quality Management System
  • Direct experience with ISO 9001 and working knowledge of ISO 17034 and/or ISO/IEC 17025 strongly preferred
  • Experience leading internal and external audits, corrective‑action investigations, and continuous‑improvement initiatives
  • Experience with supplier quality, inspection processes, calibration systems, and nonconforming material controls preferred
  • Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience preferred
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, or a similar certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, root‑cause analysis, corrective action, risk management, and continuous‑improvement methods
  • Ability to interpret and apply ISO standards, customer requirements, internal procedures, engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and laboratory test methods
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use quality data, trends, and performance metrics to support sound decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, professional judgment, and the ability to work effectively with employees, leadership, auditors, customers, and suppliers
  • Strong organization, prioritization, project management, and time‑management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining the independence and objectivity necessary for effective quality oversight
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, confidentiality, integrity, and accountability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality management software; experience with enterprise resource planning systems preferred
