Job summary

Kinsa Group is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager in Monrovia, CA to own the QA/QC and food safety systems in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. You will drive compliance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement with close collaboration to leadership and operations.

The role requires USDA experience in a RTE meat/poultry environment, HACCP certification, SQF expertise, and a track record of leading quality teams toward best-in-class standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related food-focused field.
• 5–10 years QA leadership experience in food manufacturing.
• Hands-on USDA-inspected food manufacturing environment experience (RTE meat/poultry).
• HACCP-trained and certified Practitioner.
• SQF Practitioner qualified with experience implementing SQF systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve QA/QC and food safety systems across the plant.
• Lead audit readiness and execution for SQF, regulatory, customer, and third-party audits.
• Serve as liaison with USDA/FSIS, FDA, and other regulatory bodies; ensure labeling and compliance requirements.
• Oversee microbiological testing programs with third-party labs and implement corrective actions.
• Manage and develop the Quality team, including supervision of SQF Practitioner and Technicians.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and leadership to drive a strong food safety culture.

What You'll Do:

As the Quality Assurance Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the plant’s QA/QC and food safety systems—bringing steady leadership, strong USDA/RTE experience, and the confidence to drive compliance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement. This role is highly visible and works closely with ownership and senior leadership to protect the business and its customers through best-in-class quality and regulatory execution.

• Own and continuously improve SQF, HACCP (USDA/FDA), GMPs, SSOPs, allergen controls, sanitation compliance, SOPs, and corrective action programs
• Lead audit readiness and execution for SQF, regulatory, customer, and third-party audits; support supplier audits as needed
• Serve as the primary liaison with USDA/FSIS, FDA, and other regulatory bodies; ensure labeling and compliance requirements are met
• Oversee microbiological testing programs with third-party labs, trend results, and implement corrective actions when needed
• Manage and develop the Quality team, including direct supervision of the SQF Practitioner and three Quality Control Technicians
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, production, maintenance, sanitation, and leadership to drive a strong food safety culture and resolve plant-level quality issues quickly

Qualifications You Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related food-focused field
• 5–10 years Quality Assurance leadership experience in food manufacturing
• Hands‑on experience in a USDA-inspected food manufacturing environment (RTE meat/poultry strongly necessary)
• HACCP-trained and certified Practitioner (required)
• SQF Practitioner qualified with experience implementing and maintaining SQF systems (required)
