Job summary

RiseMe in Charlotte, NC is building a next-generation neo bank. We seek a hands-on QA Manager to own the quality strategy across our mobile and web platforms, balancing automation and manual coverage for fast, safe delivery.

You will report to the Director of Technical Programs and collaborate with project management, engineering, product and design to drive test plans, coverage, and quality outcomes. This role emphasizes AI-assisted testing and real-time quality visibility at release

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience owning QA for software products — driving test strategy, coverage, and quality outcomes end to end.
• Hands-on QA across mobile and web applications; Flutter/React are nice-to-have, but transferable testing skills matter most.
• Practical experience building and maintaining test automation with a philosophy balancing automated and manual coverage.
• Strong hands-on experience with Jira (test/defect mgmt), GitHub (CI/CD), and AWS-hosted environments.
• Genuine curiosity and practical interest in using AI agents and AI-assisted tools to improve testing.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to make plans, defects, and status understandable to all.
• Detail-oriented, organized, planning-driven, with good judgment under deadline pressure.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end QA strategy across mobile (iOS/Android) and web apps; ensure coverage and quality outcomes.
• Design and maintain testing taxonomy: sprint tests, smoke tests, functional tests, regression suites.
• Balance automated and manual testing to maximize speed and coverage, including exploratory testing.
• Stand up automated regression and smoke suites in delivery pipelines; ensure quality gates run continuously.
• Manage QA toolchain in Jira for test execution tracking and reporting; defect lifecycle in Jira.

About the Role

We are building a next-generation neo bank from the ground up, and quality is non-negotiable. We are looking for a hands-on QA Manager to own the quality strategy across our mobile and web platforms — someone who is equal parts meticulous planner, sharp technologist, and clear communicator. This role manages the testing effort, not a team of people: you own the test strategy, the coverage, the automation, and the quality outcomes — designing how we test, building the balance of automation and manual coverage that keeps us fast and safe, and giving leadership a trustworthy, real-time picture of quality at every stage of delivery.
You will report to the Director of Technical Programs and partner closely with your peers in project management, as well as with engineering, product, and design. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, thinks about quality in business terms — not just pass/fail — and wants to bring modern practices, including AI-assisted testing, into a regulated, high-stakes environment.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy, Planning & Documentation

• Own the end-to-end QA strategy across mobile (iOS/Android) and web applications, from feature inception through release (our stack includes Flutter and React — familiarity is a plus).
• Author clear, thorough test plans, test scenarios, and test cases — well-organized, traceable to requirements, and easy for stakeholders to understand.
• Design and maintain a full testing taxonomy: sprint/in-sprint tests, smoke tests, functional tests, and regression suites — knowing when and where each applies.
• Bring a detail-oriented, planning-first mindset: anticipate edge cases, define entry/exit criteria, and ensure coverage is deliberate rather than accidental.

Automation & Manual Testing

• Build and maintain a healthy, pragmatic mix of automated and manual testing — automating for speed and repeatability while preserving manual and exploratory testing where human judgment matters.
• Stand up and grow automated regression and smoke suites integrated into the delivery pipeline, so quality gates run continuously, not just at release.
• Evaluate and apply the right frameworks and tools for mobile and web test automation across our stack.

Tooling, Cloud & AI

• Integrate testing into CI/CD workflows using GitHub (Actions, pull-request checks, branch protection) so tests run automatically on every change.
• Leverage AWS-hosted environments for test execution, test data, and environment management.
• Introduce and responsibly adopt AI agents and AI-assisted tooling — for test generation, coverage analysis, flaky-test triage, and accelerating repetitive QA work — with sound judgment about where automation ends and human review begins.
• Manage the full QA toolchain in Jira: test execution tracking, traceability, and reporting.

Defect Management

• Own the defect lifecycle end to end in Jira — logging, triage, prioritization, assignment, and verification of resolution.
• Track defects and their resolution with clear severity/priority standards, and drive them to closure in partnership with engineering.
• Surface defect trends and root-cause patterns so recurring issues get fixed at the source, not just patched.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting

• Report on test progress and quality status clearly and consistently — dashboards and updates that tell leadership exactly where things stand and what the risks are.
• Gather and act on stakeholder feedback, folding it into test coverage, priorities, and release-readiness decisions.
• Provide a confident, evidence-based go/no-go quality voice at release checkpoints.
• Coordinate with the Director of Technical Programs and project management peers to keep QA aligned with sprint timelines and program milestones.

What We're Looking For

Experience & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• QA Ownership: Proven experience owning QA for software products — driving test strategy, coverage, and quality outcomes end to end. This role manages the testing effort rather than direct reports, so we are looking for someone who takes full personal ownership of quality, not someone to run a headcount.
• Platform Experience: Hands-on QA experience across mobile and web applications. Familiarity with a Flutter and React stack is a nice-to-have, not a requirement — strong, transferable testing skill across modern mobile and web platforms matters more than any specific framework.
• Automation: Practical experience building and maintaining test automation, with a clear philosophy on balancing automated and manual coverage.
• Tooling: Strong hands-on experience with Jira (test and defect management) and GitHub (source control and CI/CD). Comfortable working in AWS-hosted environments.
• AI Fluency: Genuine curiosity and practical interest in using AI agents and AI-assisted tools to make testing faster and smarter.
• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication — you make test plans, scenarios, defects, and quality status legible to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
• Mindset: Detail-oriented, organized, and planning-driven, with the judgment to prioritize what matters and the calm to give an honest quality read under deadline pressure.

How Success Is Measured

In the first 90 days, you will have:

• Assessed the current state of testing and delivered a prioritized QA strategy and roadmap.
• Established clear standards for test plans, test cases, and defect management in Jira.
• Stood up or strengthened smoke and regression suites integrated with GitHub CI/CD.
• Delivered a repeatable test-progress and quality-status report leadership can rely on.

Ongoing, you will be measured on:

• Release quality — fewer escaped defects, faster detection, and a shrinking regression risk.
• Coverage balance — a healthy, maintainable mix of automated and manual testing.
• Throughput — QA keeps pace with sprint cadence without becoming the bottleneck.
• Stakeholder trust — leadership and peers rely on your quality reporting to make decisions.
