Job summary

AECOM seeks a Quality Assurance Manager to support governmental projects on-site in Arlington, VA. You will oversee QA activities across design and construction phases, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and USACE standards while coordinating with stakeholders.

The role requires a BA/BS with eight years of relevant experience; a Master’s degree is preferred. Travel is limited; some site visits across facilities may be required. Competitive salary and benefits offered.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect or provide inspection of the construction contractors’ workmanship, materials, and equipment for conformity with contract requirements.
  • Oversee construction to ensure compliance with contract requirements and standards; include evaluation of inspection levels, testing procedures, and deficiency documentation.
  • Attend site-based Stakeholder meetings including Construction Progress meetings.
  • Attend contractor's weekly project meetings.
  • Participate in tests, demonstrations, and field instructions with appropriate personnel.
  • Complete and maintain field observation records of QA, safety compliance, and project tracking.
  • Monitor the contractors’ quality program for conformance to the plan throughout construction.
  • Notify CLIENT of test failures and plan corrective actions.
  • Perform Punchlist oversight and Zero Defect walkthrough.
  • Summarize significant test results in progress reports.
  • Verify tests are conducted as scheduled and witness tests when required.

Education

BA/BS + 8 years experience

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager that willprovide staff support on governmental projects during any phase of design and/or construction whether it’s a new building, full modernization, or renovation and expect multiple phases.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Inspectsor provide Inspection in their absence of reviewing the construction contractors’ workmanship, materials, and equipment for conformity with the requirements of the construction contracts.
  • Provide oversight of construction to ensure compliance with contract requirements and standards. Include evaluation of level of inspection, testing procedures and results, documentation of deficiency correction, etc. in accordance with the USACE 3-Phase inspection program.
  • Attend all site-based Stakeholder meetings including Construction Progress meeting.
  • Attend contractor's weekly project meetings.
  • Participate in tests, demonstrations, and field instructions with the appropriate personnel.
  • Complete and maintain records of field observations of quality assurance, safety compliance, and project tracking including Daily Reports of work performed, including list of all defects, omissions, construction photographs as required to document progress and problem areas in the RMS.
  • Monitor the contractors’ quality program for conformance to the plan throughout the course of construction.
  • Notify CLIENT of test failures and plan of corrective actions.
  • Perform Punchlist oversight and participate in Zero Defect walkthrough.
  • Reports critical issues to the Owner and provides proper resolution.
  • Summarizing significant test results in progress reports.
  • Verifying that tests are conducted as scheduled, witnessing selected tests, checking test results, if required, overseeing retesting, and retaining test records.
  • Conducts daily site visits for CPM Project Schedule overview, understanding of project scheduled activities.
  • RFIs and Shop drawing and construction submittal review compliance.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS plus eightyears of relevant experienceor demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Quality Assurance, Architecture, Construction Management, or other related field
  • Up to 50% of the time the position needs to move about indoor and outdoor construction site environments with uneven terrain, variable environmental conditions including heat, dust, noise, moisture, and dryness
  • Experience supporting project closeout activities, including punch list management and final inspections. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required to support project completion.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant rules and regulations as well as quality standards and human resources
