Job description

Description

This position is responsible for the daily operations of the quality assurance department, food safety practices, quality standards, and staff. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Must have the ability to perform all positions within the department
  • Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery
  • Identify and set appropriate quality standards and parameters for products
  • Communicate food safety practices, procedures, and specifications
  • Participate and coordinate product testing processes
  • Analyze issues with regards to specification deviations and other problems
  • Enforce proper FSQA standards across the facility
  • Recommend and facilitate solutions to departmental issues
  • Review client, customer, and user feedback
  • Ensure product meets required specifications for quality, function, and reliability
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the selection of new employees
  • Oversee new employee training and continued performance monitoring
  • Schedule and oversee the daily workflow of the quality assurance staff
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
  • Complete performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Monitor expenditures: implement corrective actions if needed
  • Communicate with customers and vendors as needed
  • Ensure that all activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist in the quality training and certification process

Education and Experience

  • Three years of supervisory experience required
  • Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements
Physical Requirements
  • Regular periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
  • Must be able to move and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to move in, around and under equipment.
  • Work in a refrigerated environment.
