Job summary

Nucor Steel South Carolina in Darlington, SC is seeking a QAL Technician focused on safe setup, operation, monitoring, and testing of QAL equipment. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and cross-department collaboration to ensure material meets specs and customer requirements.

Preferred candidates will have UT or EC Level II certifications or experience with nondestructive testing, and familiarity with QMOS, EBS, QRM or similar systems. Strong problem-solving and maintenance mindset encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience with operation, monitoring, or troubleshooting of production and/or analytical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safely set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot QAL production and testing equipment.
• Perform routine material inspections and quality testing, including straightness, chemical analysis, magnetism, length, and other specifications.
• Verify proper setup, functionality, and accuracy of testing equipment to ensure reliable results.
• Identify, communicate, and assist in resolving material quality concerns, nonconforming conditions, and equipment-related issues.
• Maintain accurate material identification, traceability, testing results, and quality documentation.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance activities, and housekeeping to support safe and reliable operations.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and other departments to support operational goals and resolve issues.
• Identify and contribute to opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, quality, equipment reliability, and operational performance.
