Job summary

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a similar quality inspection role.
• Experience in automotive or aerospace industries.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and tolerance definitions.
• Understanding calibration and inspection equipment selection and verification.
• Capability to complete inspection paperwork and records accurately.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Select and calibrate inspection equipment to be used (gauges, micrometers, calipers, etc.).
• Inspect first part against prints and verify tolerances.
• Record completed inspections on inspection records.
• Complete all related paperwork and inspection records.
• Support continuous improvement and work with other departments.
• Perform First Piece Inspection, PPAP Layout, incoming and final inspections.
• Read blueprints and understand critical, major, and minor characteristics.

Job description

Large Northbrook based automotive manufacturer specializing in CNC and multi-spindle precision machining is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector.

We are seeking an experienced candidate proficient with:

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Previous experience working in the automotive or aerospace industries.
• Strong background in metals and measuring.
• Choose and check calibration of inspection equipment to be used. Gauges, micrometers, calipers, etc.
• Inspect first part against each measurement as indicated on print. Verify acceptable tolerance. Indicate completed inspection on corresponding inspection record.
• Complete all other paperwork, including inspection records, associated with position.
• Contributes to team, company and QS goals by initiating continuous improvement, accomplishing related results as required and working effectively with other employees and departments.
• Receives, understands and follows all written and oral instruction.
• Timely completion of all paperwork associated with position including move tags
• Ability to perform First Piece Inspection, PPAP Lay out, incoming and final inspection
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, Profilometer, height gages, test indicators, fit gages
• Understand types of measurement, measurement terminology, and the types and differences of standard measurement instruments
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and know definitions of critical, major, minor characteristics
