Job summary

Moog Inc. in Johnson City, TN is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer Manager to lead onsite quality initiatives.

You will report to the Site Manager and ensure the Quality Management System complies with AS9100/ISO9001, drive RCCA, and mentor engineers while coordinating with engineering and manufacturing functions. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline, 5 years QA in manufacturing, 2 years leadership, and ~5% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline preferred.
• 5 years of hands-on quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 2 years of management/leadership experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with ISO9001 and AS9100 compliance; audits.
• Experience with RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action).
• Experience with budgets, risk calculation, and stakeholder communication.
• Strong understanding of QMS requirements.
• Willingness to travel ~5% for business needs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure 100% product quality by collaborating with peers and leaders using best practices.
• Maintain compliance of the Quality Management System to AS9100/ISO9001.
• Engage customers through effective manufacturing and quality communications.
• Report KPIs to improve customer satisfaction and financial performance.
• Oversee Quality Management System framework and procedures per AS9100/ISO9001.
• Lead Johnson City Quality Engineering staff and Lean continuous improvement.
• Reduce scrap, rework, and quality escapes; manage warranties and design changes.
• Develop Quality Engineers and interface daily with production and offshore teams.

Job Title: Quality Assurance Engineer Manager

Work Schedule: Onsite – Johnson City, TN

Quality Assurance Engineer Manager Moog Space and Defense Group is the operating group with the longest heritage at Moog. You will report to the Site Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in Johnson City, TN.

To be considered for the Quality Assurance Engineering Manager role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

• Bachelor’s degree; Engineering or another technical discipline preferred.
• 5 years of experience in a hands on quality-related role within a manufacturing environment.
• 2 years of management and/or related leadership experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ISO9001and AS9100 compliance standards- conduct internal and external audits.
• Experience with Root cause corrective action RCCA.
• Experience with budgets, calculating risks, managing matrixed environment and ability to communicate with stakeholders.
• Thorough understanding of the requirements necessary to maintain an effective Quality Management System (QMS).
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 5% to support business needs.

As a Quality Assurance Engineer Manager, you will:

• Assure 100% Product quality to customer through collaborating and consultancy with peers and functional leaders to establish best practices and by sharing the “Quality First” message across all levels.
• Ensure the Quality Management System is compliant to 3rd party regulatory agencies such as AS9100/ISO9001
• Ensure and promote customer engagement through effective communication and interactions including for manufacturing and quality related content such as Failure Analysis and Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
• Report Key Process Indicators that improve customer satisfaction and financial performance including being an agent for continuous improvement.
• Accountable for the framework necessary to support the Quality Management System. This includes Quality personnel specific accountabilities and maintaining procedural methods, in accordance with AS9100 & ISO9001.
• Oversee the activity of the Johnson City Quality Engineering staff & the incorporation of organizational excellence through Lean practices and continuous improvement tool usage.
• Responsible for team oversight and direction towards reduction in scrap cost, rework cost and quality escapes to customers.
• Manage/oversee Product Warrantees, Repair Team, new design releases with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Tool Design, and Technical Writing staff and implement the necessary protocols for achieving the customer's contractual expectations.
• Develop Quality Engineers to better achieve business goals in addition to individual career development.
• Daily interface with Production Supervisors, Operators, Operations Support, and multiple offshore operations on production/quality related issues.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support business operations
