EGS, Inc. is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer for our DOE customer in Los Alamos, NM. This position comes with top competitive rates along with excellent full benefits. Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Perform Level II QC inspections, proactively evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for corrective actions.
  2. Develop and update inspection procedures, reports/inspection forms/formats, protocols and checklists.
  3. Perform duties of a Nonconformance Report Coordinator (NCRC) including the tracking, reporting and fostering timely closure of open nonconformance reports.
  4. Monitor operations for adherence to project plans and specifications to ensure quality control compliance.
  5. Perform inspection functions per inspection plans and record results of inspections/tests per applicable procedures.
  6. Implement quality control procedures and policies to ensure inspection/test activities conform to applicable inspection/test plans.

The Quality Engineer demonstrates advanced knowledge in application of welding and mechanical inspection skills, typically 8-12+ years with nuclear and/or DOE QE program experience preferred. Experience in rebar fabrication, pre-placement reinforcing structural, steel inspections, and anchor bolt installation is required. Safety and Security are primary responsibilities.

Must have current or prior qualification as an American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (for Mechanical Inspectors).

Advanced knowledge of and experience with quality regulations, policies, and procedures is required.

Advanced ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

Advanced experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting QC.

Knowledge of national consensus standards of QC such as ASME, ISO, ANSI/ASME NQA-1, and US NRC regulatory guide series is essential.

Education/Experience:

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, QE, or Industrial Systems Engineering or a related field and 8-12+ years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and experience with DOE QC programs of more than 3 years.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship certification program.
  • Additional relevant education and/or certification in a related field and/or current relevant professional certification.
  • Experience performing measurements using Romer/Faro.
  • Experience with helium leak testing.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (especially Outlook, Word, and Excel), and Adobe.
  • Active DOE Q Clearance and Active HRP status preferred.
