Job description

The Quality Assurance Coordinator is a hands‑on, growth‑oriented quality professional who partners cross‑functionally to promote a strong culture of quality and continuous improvement at Swagelok Allentown. This role supports inbound and outbound supply chain operations and quality teams, working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure product quality and customer expectations are consistently met.

The Quality Assurance Coordinator supports the effectiveness of the Quality Management System by managing quality procedures, executing and tracking corrective and containment actions, and identifying opportunities to improve internal processes, in alignment with the SQS Program and the Swagelok Allentown Quality Manual. Internal audits and root cause analysis activities are led by the Quality Assurance Supervisor; the Quality Assurance Coordinator provides analytical support, documentation, execution, and follow‑up, including corrective action tracking and effectiveness verification. The role requires a solution‑focused mindset, the ability to manage multiple priorities, a willingness to learn, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Decision Authority and Escalation

The Quality Assurance Coordinator exercises independent judgment within defined quality processes and procedures. Decisions involving audit outcomes, root cause conclusions, non‑conforming product disposition, or material business risk are escalated to the Quality Assurance Supervisor for final determination.

In addition, responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Time Essential Functions

45% Quality

  • Assist with maintaining the SQS document control system, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and version integrity, with oversight from the Quality Assurance Supervisor
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally in the development and continuous improvement of quality processes, aligning priorities with the Quality Assurance Supervisor. Perform internal audits and support the quality team in audit preparation, evidence collection, documentation, and follow‑up for internal audits and Swagelok Certification Program audits.
  • Assist in root cause investigations and help develop long‑term corrective action plans. Manage the Non‑Conforming Product process, including investigation, documentation, and containment activities, escalating decisions as appropriate to the Quality Assurance Supervisor
  • Initiate non‑conformance reports and coordinate product investigations with Swagelok
  • Maintain Certification Program records with Swagelok
  • Support Quality Management Review meetings by reviewing the status of quality objectives, performance metrics, and continuous improvement activities
  • Assist with risk analysis and continuous improvement projects across the organization
  • Utilize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when performing work
  • Coordinate and support 5S initiatives across the business, promoting adherence and continuous improvement
  • Assist in maintaining the Quality Management Software

30% Inbound and Outbound Supply Chain

  • Maintain quality records for inbound and outbound supply chain activities
  • Use measuring equipment to inspect product for approval or rejection at receiving
  • Inspect and receive inbound shipments, including third‑party products and tubing
  • Manage inbound inventory quality tracking and documentation
  • Complete certifications as requested
  • Conduct First Article inspections

20% Production and Custom Solutions

  • Maintain certification program records and ensure Custom Solutions associates are properly certified and trained for required activities
  • Lead the calibration program, including scheduling, coordination, and recordkeeping
  • Create production product certifications when requested

5% Organizational goals

  • Participate in teams and projects that contribute to the Strategic Plan
  • Identify and recommend solutions for continuous improvement opportunities across the organization
  • Attend training and remain current with applicable quality standards, regulations, and initiatives
  • Serve as a liaison to Swagelok Corporate on matters affecting the quality system, coordinating communications and escalating issues through the Quality Assurance Supervisor as appropriate.
  • Communicate and reinforce quality initiatives and expectations across teams in collaboration with leadership. Engage in ongoing learning related to products, policies and personal development in collaboration with the Technical Service Supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements or Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Ability to pass visual acuity testing, including color differentiation
  • SAP Business One (SAP B1) experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with technical quality documents preferred
  • Knowledge of inspection and quality methods as applied to light manufacturing and distribution activities preferred
  • Training or experience in 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar continuous improvement methodologies preferred
