The Simplot Company is seeking a Quality Assurance Auditor to ensure quality standards are evaluated across the Grand Forks facility and support a product grading program in alignment with customer, regulatory, and company expectations.

The role conducts audits, training, testing, and evaluation of quality processes, and supports the development of product grading policies within the facility’s quality management system. Location: GF Plant – Grand Forks, ND.

Qualifications

  • Experience in quality assurance or auditing in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage technician proficiency program.
  • Evaluate samples prior to shipment and as needed.
  • Perform FSMA quality checks to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct product grading, sensory evaluation and training for staff.
  • Investigate customer complaints and CAPA, provide corrective actions.
  • Document and track shift information using computer systems.
  • Organize daily sample batches and lead review meetings.

Summary

The Quality Assurance Auditor ensures quality standards are consistently evaluated throughout the facility by supporting and maintaining an integrated product grading program, including upstream, sensory, and finished product grading. This role helps ensure products meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and company expectations.

The position is responsible for auditing, training, testing, and evaluating quality processes, as well as supporting the development and implementation of product grading policies and procedures within the facility’s quality management system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage technician proficiency program.
  • Evaluate customer or interpolant samples prior to shipment or as needed.
  • Performs FSMA quality checks for all lines and ensures that they are conducted in compliance with established procedures and regulator requirements.
  • Conduct product grading, sensory evaluation and analytical procedure training to hourly and management personnel.
  • Participate in investigating customer complaints, out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Utilize computer and computer programs to communicate, document, and track shift information and ensures that all documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conducts frozen waste sampling, reject ratio and line flow length an ensures that recovery and quality is maximized.
  • Organize audit samples for daily cuttings. Host daily cutting meetings.
  • Review held product and lot sampling information. Host daily held product review meetings.
  • Makes chemicals for processing labs.
  • Verifies and records metal detectable supplies.
  • Maintain Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
  • Work within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, sanitized, organized and operable fashion.
  • Ensure self-compliance with Company policies, plant procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Maintain necessary level of communication with team members and other support groups and does so in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
  • Ensure that additional duties and accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.
Required Certifications
  • Must obtain Sensory Grading Certification within 2 months.
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain HACCP and PCQI certifications.
Typical Education
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Other Information
  • Quality Assurance or Auditing experience preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Must obtain Sensory Grading Certification within 2 months. Must be able to work around and consume products containing soy, wheat, and dairy.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English in a manner to successfully complete job duties.
  • Must be able to use a computer proficiently for data entry and communication.
