Job summary

Boeing in Berkeley, MO is seeking an Assembly Mechanic specializing in Non-destructive Testing (NDT) to perform MT/PT inspections on aerospace components. You will set up equipment, develop procedures, collect data, and communicate results to support repair decisions.

This role requires mobility to work onsite and the ability to obtain Boeing NDT certification. Candidates must have documented NDT training hours and at least 1 year of MT/PT experience, plus proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal, documented hours of NDT training/experience or military equivalent (32 hours of formal training (16 hours in magnetic particle and 16 hours in dye penetrant)).
  • 1+ year of experience working with magnetic particle and fluorescent dye penetrant Nondestructive Testing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products like Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

  • Performs setup for specialized non-destructive test or measurement equipment.
  • Develops procedures and processes.
  • Performs tests or inspections and collects data.
  • Documents, analyzes and communicates results and assists with corrective action recommendations.
  • Provides feedback on adverse trends.
  • Responsible for non-destructive testing and acceptance of repairs to company products.
  • Conducts certification preparation training, capable of providing the necessary guidance to Trainees and Level I NDT certified personnel.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal.

has exciting opportunities for Assembly Mechanic – Non-destructive Test in Berkeley, MO!

In this role, you will conduct Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on aerospace products using cutting edge methods including Magnetic Particle (MT) and Liquid Penetrant (PT). You will work with digital and automated inspection systems in an aerospace environment aligned with industry standards and regulations. Employees will be required to obtain Boeing NDT certification and pass a vision exam. Failure to achieve or maintain certification requirements may lead to termination of employment.
Candidates must have documented evidence of NDT education and/or OJT hours in PT and/or MT available for Boeing Level 3 review.
Work Environment
  • May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (not over OSHA permissible exposure levels).
  • Safety training and equipment are provided by Boeing in accordance with applicable laws, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) applicable to the testing method being used.
  • Able and willing to stand 90% of the time, stoop, bend, stretch, and engage in awkward positioning.
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Formalized NDT Training and experience including a minimum of Level II Certification or military equivalent in Magnetic or Penetrant
  • 1+ year of experience conducting aerospace inspection
  • Experience working with Magnetic Particle Bench method
  • 3+ years of experience working with magnetic particle and fluorescent dye penetrant Nondestructive Testing

Additional Information
  • This is a union-represented position
  • This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinist (IAM 837) Collective Bargaining Agreement The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned.
  • New Hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. Once any required training has been completed all new employees will be considered on probation for a period of (120) calendar days. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period.
