Job summary

West Wimmera Health Service is seeking a Hospitality and Environment Services Assistant for a 12-month gap year placement across all sites. The role covers cleaning acute facilities, residential aged care areas and external properties, and includes assisting with meals preparation and service for patients, residents, staff and meetings.

The position is part-time (64 hours per fortnight) on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, with duties aligned to infection control

We are seeking a Hospitality and Environment Services Assistant - 12 months Gap Year position to work in a part time (64 hours/fortnight) capacity across ALL SITES.

About The Role

• The Hospitality and Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for cleaning the acute facilities, residential aged care areas and external properties.
• They assist with preparation, service and delivery of meals for patients, residents, staff, meetings, and other functions. They ensure the supplies and equipment in relevant areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition in accordance with the Department of Human Services Standards, and Infection Control Guidelines.
• They are on a rotating roster over a 7-day period, including weekends and public holidays.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

• Effective communication and organisational skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to work without active supervision.
• Have the ability to communicate effectively with other staff, patients, residents, management and the community.
• Proven ability to prioritise and be multi-skilled.
• Demonstrate basic ability to learn and use computer software packages including Microsoft, Outlook, Word, Excel and other software packages as necessary.

Desirable

• Have knowledge of Health Regulations and Victorian Food Safety Standards.
• Have knowledge of Infection Control Health Regulations.
• Have knowledge and understanding of Department of Human Services Cleaning Standards.
• Have knowledge and understanding of Food Safe Australia.
• Have appropriate training in cleaning:
• Proficiency in cleaning through on the job training.
• Have appropriate training in preparation and service:
• Proficiency in kitchen duties and food preparation through on the job

Training. PRE-REQUISITES

• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
• Working with Children Check.
• Fully vaccinated (including influenza) as per current Department of Health Directives.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

• Maintain and comply with cleaning standards and Food Safety Guidelines.

• Ensure strict adherence with West Wimmera Health Service Infection Prevention protocols.
