Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a quality program professional to develop and implement quality plans, using statistical control, lean methods, and Six Sigma tools. You will work with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to ensure conformance and investigate discrepancies.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 3 years of exempt experience or a Master’s degree with 1 year of experience.

  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control, lean manufacturing concepts and six-sigma tools.
  • Ensure that performance and quality products conform to company and regulatory standards.
  • Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Investigate problems and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
  • Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.

The Role

Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses. Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met. Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 1 years of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Nice to Have

Root cause training preferred, not required.
