The Qualified Medication Aide provides nursing related services to residents under the direct supervision of licensed nurses, and consistent with each resident's comprehensive assessment and plan of care. The Qualified Medication Aide maintains a homelike environment for the residents, protects and promotes resident rights, and assists the person to maintain independence and control to the greatest extent possible.
Clinical & Medication Administration: Safely prepare, administer, and document medications and prescribed treatments according to physician orders; closely monitor for side effects, interactions, or adverse reactions.
Vigilant Monitoring & Reporting: Observe resident conditions continuously, accurately document care and fluid intake/output, and promptly report any physical, behavioral, or medical changes to the Unit Charge Nurse.
Safety & Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized unit; handle medication cart security and controlled substance reconciliation, manage infection control (such as hand hygiene and PPE), and quickly report any environmental or equipment hazards.
Compliance & Professional Development: Execute all nursing procedures in strict accordance with facility policies and training; participate in state inspection preparations, mandatory in-service education, and emergency drills.
