Job summary

Astral at Auburn is seeking a dependable Qualified Medical Assistant to support our team and residents. The role involves administering medications and providing general personal care to residents, with shifts across 6a-2p, 2p-10p, and 10p-6a.

Responsibilities include documenting medications, supervising self-administration where applicable, and ensuring a safe, compassionate environment. A High School Diploma/GED is required, with potential Medication Aide Certification per state rules.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of caregiving or related clinical experience.
• Demonstrate patience and compassion when working with elderly residents.
• Show attention to detail in medication administration and care.

Responsibilities

• Administer and document medication per policies and nurses’ orders.
• Supervise self-administration of medication when applicable.
• Perform treatments as required and provide personal care.
• Observe changes in residents’ condition and report promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for residents and staff.
• Attend at least 12 hours of in-service education annually.
• Respect residents’ dignity and well-being and assist families.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

In this role, you will be responsible for the oversight of administration of medication to residents, as well as assisting residents with general, personal care as needed.

Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities

• Administer and document medication according to the organization’s policies and procedures.
• Supervise the self-administration of medication when applicable.
• Complete and perform all treatments according to policy standards and nurses’ orders.
• Provide personal care assistance/services as required or instructed.
• Observe and report any changes in resident’s physical/emotional condition.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, visitors, and co-workers.
• Attend a minimum of 12 annual hours of in-service education.
• Promote and respect the dignity and well-being of each resident and their family.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.
