Job summary

Waters of Dunkirk is hiring a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to administer medications under nurse supervision and ensure safety and accuracy. The role requires attention to resident rights, regulatory knowledge, and effective communication with residents, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Adheres to resident rights and policies.
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations.
• Understands elderly needs and limitations.
• Ability to communicate with resident, family, staff, and community.
• Maintains confidentiality of resident information and rights.
• Responds to facility, resident and family needs promptly.
• Must function independently with flexibility and integrity.
• Patient, tactful, cheerful, and enthusiastic with residents.
• Addresses satisfaction issues with supervisor in a professional manner.
• Must read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oral medications, including scheduled medications.
• PRN medications, after nurse authorization, nurse documents effectiveness.
• Inhalers and nebulizer treatments with nurse assessment.
• Topical and rectal ointments; nasal, eye, and ear meds.
• Non-invasive treatments and monitor residents.
• Observe drug reactions and report to nurse immediately.
• Monitor vital signs and document MAR entries.
• Document medications given and respond to nurse instructions.
• Audit documentation for accuracy and timeliness.
