Job summary

Under the Manager QRC Innovation, you will collaborate with R&D, Operations, Engineering, Packaging, and Commercial teams to implement quality plans, supplier assessments, and global standards for food safety and quality in external partnerships.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in Food Quality, protein/functional foods, or related manufacturing experience.
• Experience with new product development and manufacturing processes is required.
• FDA PCQI certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance within the Agile Innovation Process.
• Identify, approve ingredients and packaging; conduct quality system assessments.
• Develop quality policies, conduct Quality Design Reviews, and create Food Safety/Quality plans.
• Provide on-site support for manufacturing and distribution operations.
• Collaborate with QRC, Engineering, Packaging, Regulatory, and R&D to standardize best practices.

Duration:12-18 months contract

Schedule: Part time ( up to 30 hours) with potential for full time

Job Description:

• This role is designed to support BFY (protein/functional) Innovation (a newer area for HSY) with a focus on food safety, speed to market, including “non traditional” and Joint Venture approaches to develop, manufacture and market new BFY products. As a result, this position needs to understand this newer \"space\", react quickly to changing business needs, and maintain a “fluid” work environment.
• Under direction from the Manager QRC Innovation and in collaboration with R&D, Operations, Engineering, Packaging, and Commercial Teams, this role is responsible for food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance elements of the Agile Innovation Process and other early-stage Innovation.
• This includes, but is not limited to, identification and facilitating approval of ingredients and packaging, conducting quality system assessments (ingredient/packaging suppliers, manufacturing locations, distribution sites, etc.), policy and procedure development pertaining to Innovation, conducting Quality Design Reviews, developing Food Safety and Quality plans and providing on-site support of manufacturing and distribution operations.
• Ensures compliance with government regulations, industry standards and Company’s program and procedures in this newer category.
• Work with QRC, Engineering, Packaging, Regulatory, and R&D team members to identify, standardize, and implement best practices, new technologies and methods related to these areas of expertise and any emerging issues. Work with COEs and SMEs to develop and implement global standards for food safety and quality at external manufacturing partners. Work with Marketing, Sales, and Operations to ensure inclusion of Quality Requirements in Contractual Agreements.

Technical Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of Food Safety and HACCP, GMPs, FDA regulations, quality design principles in the functional foods and dietary supplement space.
• Capable of understanding varied manufacturing processes to include dairy, sweeteners, confectionery, cereal, peanuts and tree nuts, ground nuts, raisins, flour, snacks, baking, extrusion and warehousing. Manufacturing plant experience preferred
• Have an understanding of new product development steps and life cycle

Must Haves (i.e., years of experience?)

• At least 5 years; Food Quality experience Protein, Better For You, Functional Foods areas, food Manufacturing experience, FDA PCQI certification preferred
• Software Skills and Purpose (if applicable): MS OFFICE, Teams, SAP
