Job summary

Sargent Aerospace & Defense seeks a Quality Systems Engineer to support the Quality Manager in implementing and maintaining the AS9100 quality management system. You will mentor staff, oversee internal audits, and drive corrective actions to ensure compliance across the site.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's (or equivalent) with strong MS Office skills and experience with auditors. U.S. person status required and opportunities to coordinate external audits are included.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree, strongly preferred; Associate’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • Very strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Experience with customers, regulators, and third‑party auditors.
  • Experience formulating corrective action responses to audit findings.
  • Experience managing corrective action tracking systems.
  • Must be a U.S. Person.

Responsibilities

  • Report quality system performance as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Ensure Quality Management System meets current AS9100 requirements.
  • Review, approve and post quality documents as required.
  • Ensure proper document control practices throughout the site.
  • Schedule internal audits.
  • Coordinate external audits for customer and regulatory.
  • Train and mentor internal auditors to maintain an effective internal audit program.
  • Review and accept or reject corrective/preventive action responses from internal and supplier sources.
  • Act as Corrective Action Board chair during the quality manager’s absence.
  • Monitor Quality Bulletin Process for internal and supplier items.
  • Back-up OASIS administrator.

Description

Purpose & Scope:

This position will be responsible to the quality manager to ensure the quality management system is effectively implemented and maintained. Additionally, they will demonstrate experience as a quality systems engineer supporting and mentoring employees within an AS9100 quality management system.

  • Report quality system performance, as directed by the Quality Manager
  • Ensures that Quality Management System meets current AS9100 requirements
  • Reviews, approves and posts quality documents as required
  • Ensures proper document control practices are followed throughout the site
  • Schedules internal audits
  • Coordinate external audits for both customer and regulatory
  • Train and mentor internal auditors to achieve on-time effective internal audit program
  • Reviews and accepts or rejects corrective/preventive action responses for internal and supplier responses
  • Corrective Action Board (CAB) chair-person during the absence of the quality manager
  • Monitor Quality Bulletin Process for both internal and supplier
  • Back-up OASIS administrator

Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree, strongly preferred, Associate’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • Very strong MS Office Skills, e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word etc.
