Job summary

Phoenix Processor LP is seeking a Marine Engineer with a QMED rating to work on the M/V Excellence. The vessel operates at sea for about 9 months annually, with 60- to 90-day rotations between port and sea duty.

Essential duties include maintenance of propulsion and mechanical systems, adherence to safety policies, and management of spare parts. A strong troubleshooting aptitude and ability to work both independently and in a team are required.

Qualifications

• QMED rating and maritime credentials required.
• Experience with propulsion, electrical and refrigeration is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in shipboard maintenance.

Job description

Phoenix Processor LP is hiring for a Marine Engineer with QMED Rating for work on board the M/V Excellence. The M/V Excellence is an at sea fish processor that operates approximately 9 months per year at sea during 4 separate fisheries. Average rotation period is 60-90 days sharing work between port and time at sea.

Essential functions include:

• As directed, routine maintenance of the propulsion, auxiliary and mechanical systems
• Maintain a working knowledge of company, ship and government safety policies and regulations
• Care, use and documentation of ship’s critical spare parts, inventory, consumables
• Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
• Experience with electrical and refrigeration experience and certification is a plus
• Ability to work independently and as a team to prioritize projects and daily maintenance

• Prefer candidates with prior experience working on ships, preferably at sea.
• Experience in the fishing industry would be a plus.
• It is a physically demanding job and you must be fit for duty, able to lift 50 lbs without assistance, manage stairs and ladders, and be able to work in small or confined spaces.
• Prefer candidates with current USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with QMED rating, STCW, Medical Certificate and TWIC.

Salary Range: $60-$90K depending on experience and number of days.
