Job summary

Phoenix Processor LP is seeking a Marine Engineer with QMED rating to work aboard the M/V Excellence, a fish processor that spends about 9 months at sea annually. The crew rotates every 60–90 days between port and sea duty, performing routine maintenance on propulsion and auxiliary systems.

Essential functions include servicing mechanical systems, adhering to safety policies, managing spare parts, and troubleshooting. USCG QMED or equivalent credentials are highly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Prefer candidates with prior experience working on ships, preferably at sea.
  • Experience in the fishing industry would be a plus.
  • It is a physically demanding job; you must be fit for duty, able to lift 50 lbs without assistance, manage stairs and ladders, and be able to work in small or confined spaces.
  • Prefer candidates with USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with QMED rating, STCW, Medical Certificate and TWIC.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of company, ship and government safety policies and regulations
  • Care, use and documentation of ship’s critical spare parts, inventory, consumables
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with electrical and refrigeration experience and certification is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to prioritize projects and daily maintenance

Phoenix Processor LP is hiring for a Marine Engineer with QMED Rating for work on board the M/V Excellence. The M/V Excellence is an at sea fish processor that operates approximately 9 months per year at sea during 4 separate fisheries. Average rotation period is 60-90 days sharing work between port and time at sea.
