Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, at the Columbus Engine Center, seeks a Mechanic for a weekend shift to overhaul, repair, and assemble jet engines powering commercial and military aircraft. You will work hands-on with a team, applying mechanical expertise to restore engines to peak performance, safety, and reliability.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED and experience in engine overhaul; preferred are A&P license, familiarity with disassembly/inspection/assembly, Lean Six Sigma, and SAP/Microsoft Office

  • Hands-on experience in disassembly, inspection, assembly, or turbine engine test operations.

Job Summary

Join Pratt & Whitney at our Columbus Engine Center, where precision meets purpose. As a Mechanic, you’ll play a critical role in the overhaul, repair, and assembly of advanced jet engines that power commercial and military aircraft around the world. Working in a hands-on, team-driven environment, you’ll apply your mechanical expertise to ensure engines are restored to peak performance, safety, and reliability. This is a Weekend Shift position: Friday – Sunday 6:30am – 7:00 pm

What You Will Do
  • Work as a member of a team responsible for turbine engine, engine module, or component maintenance in accordance with published work instructions and approved technical data. Utilize common hand tools as well as a wide variety of tooling and fixtures to assemble/disassembly and test a jet engine. Ensure all phases of assembly/disassembly as specified by work instructions, comply with required self-inspection or peer inspection of critical processes ensuring adherence to quality standards. Monitor and ensure processes meet Safety, Quality and Delivery objectives.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Aviation engine overhaul and repair experience
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License or Powerplant (P) Certificate
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Disassembly, Inspection, Assembly, or Turbine Engine Test Operations.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and SAP

This position is classified as: Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader. Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role. Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
