Job summary

Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. seeks a QC Technician at Blue Ridge Quarry to perform routine lab testing of aggregate materials and ensure conformity to specifications. You will set up equipment, collect samples from production facilities and customer sites, and report results to internal teams and external customers.

The role requires a safety-minded, dependable individual with 2+ years in quality control in aggregates and a technical degree preferred. Travel will be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent) required.
  • Two years of quality control experience in aggregate/construction preferred.
  • Technical degree preferred.
  • State certification for aggregate field and laboratory testing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sample and perform routine laboratory testing of aggregate materials.
  • Set up and operate laboratory equipment (agitators, scales, ovens).
  • Obtain material samples from production facilities and customer sites.
  • Report test results to internal and external stakeholders (DOT and others).
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and data files.
  • Travel between quarry locations as required.

Salary: USD 25.78 - 28.50 Hourly

Martin Marietta is seeking a QC Technician to join our team . The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently sampling and performing routine laboratory testing of aggregate material under the supervision of the Site Manager or other designated personnel .andnbsp; The QC Technician will ensure that all products are consistent with prescribed standards and specifications. This position requires travel from the quarry to other locations.

Blue Ridge Quarry

Hours: 7AM - 7PM, weekends as necessary

A typical day for a (n) QC Technician may include:

Using prescribed standards to determine chemical and/or physical characteristics for quality control purposes and to determine conformity to specifications

Setting up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instrumentations such as agitators, scales, ovens, and other lab equipment as required

Working around industrial equipment and machinery to obtain material samples from production facilities such as conveyors, stockpiles, rail cars and/or customer sites

Reporting and communicates test results internally and externally (DOT and other customers as required )

Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment

Inspecting stockpiles for proper construction and haul units for cleanliness

Maintaining test data files and records test results in AggQC and/or standardized forms

Investigating and resolves customer technical problems under the guidance of designated personnel as needed

Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed

Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

You may be a good fit if you :

Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position

Have t wo (2) years' experience in quality control in an aggregate or construction environment ( preferred )

Have a Technical degree ( preferred )

Are State certified for aggregate field and laboratory testing ( preferred )

We are excited to share the base range for this position is $25.78 - $28.50, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
