Job summary

MBC Talent Connections is seeking an experienced QC Microbiologist for a fully onsite role in Gulfport, MS, supporting GMP-regulated pharmaceutical testing.

You will perform routine microbiological testing on materials and products, conduct environmental monitoring, and assist with method qualifications, validations, and investigations. Strong documentation, aseptic technique, and collaboration with Quality and Manufacturing are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on microbiology lab experience in GMP-regulated settings.
• Practical microbiological testing experience in a QC lab.
• Experience in environmental monitoring, microbial limits, bioburden, sterility, or endotoxin testing.
• Working knowledge of cGMP practices.
• Understanding of deviations, investigations, change controls, and CAPAs.
• Strong aseptic technique and contamination control.
• Accurate documentation and clear written/verbal communication.
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, stability samples and water.
• Conduct environmental monitoring, sampling, testing, documentation and data interpretation.
• Perform microbial enumeration, microbial limits, bioburden and related assays.
• Prepare culture media, reagents, and solutions; sterilize and test media.
• Support microbial identification and related investigations.
• Perform sterility and endotoxin testing as applicable.
• Participate in method qualifications, validations, and transfers.
• Operate, clean and maintain lab equipment and instrumentation.
• Accurately document lab activities, observations and results per procedures.
• Review data for accuracy and compliance; investigate unexpected results and instrument issues.
• Support deviations, CAPAs and change controls; maintain lab cleanliness and contamination control.
• Collaborate with Quality, QC and Manufacturing teams; train staff as needed.

Pay: $28.00–$35.00/hour

About the Role

We're looking for experienced QC Microbiologists to join a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical laboratory supporting the manufacture of human and veterinary drug products. This hands-on position involves microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, environmental samples, and stability samples. Strong attention to detail, sound microbiological technique, and familiarity with cGMP practices are essential.

What You'll Do

• Perform routine microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, stability samples, water, and other samples
• Conduct environmental monitoring, including sampling, testing, documentation, and interpretation of results
• Perform microbial enumeration, microbial limits, bioburden, and other required assays
• Prepare culture media, reagents, and solutions; perform media sterilization and growth promotion/suitability testing
• Support microbial identification and related investigations
• Perform sterility, endotoxin, or other microbiological quality control testing as applicable
• Participate in method qualifications, validations, and transfers
• Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation
• Accurately document lab activities, observations, and results per established procedures
• Review analytical and microbiological data for accuracy and compliance
• Investigate and troubleshoot unexpected results, test issues, or equipment problems
• Support lab investigations, deviations, change controls, and CAPAs
• Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and contamination control
• Collaborate with Quality, QC, and Manufacturing teams
• Train and mentor newer laboratory staff as needed

What You'll Need

• 3+ years of hands-on microbiology lab experience, ideally in a pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, veterinary pharmaceutical, or other GMP-regulated setting
• Practical experience with microbiological testing in a QC lab
• Experience in one or more of: environmental monitoring, microbial limits, bioburden, sterility testing, endotoxin testing, microbial identification, or water testing
• Working knowledge of cGMP laboratory practices
• Understanding of quality systems, including deviations, investigations, change controls, and CAPAs
• Strong aseptic technique and contamination control awareness
• Accurate documentation skills and strong written/verbal communication
• Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education & Experience

• Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field preferred (equivalent hands-on experience considered)
• GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or life sciences lab experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
• Able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods (8+ hours/day)
• Able to work in a lab environment following safety and contamination‑control procedures
