Pay Rate: $26.00/hour + $0.50/hour second-shift differential
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-11:30 PM
Training: First 2 weeks on first shift before transitioning to second shift
Weekend Requirements: Occasional Saturdays may be required based on business needs; Saturdays are not currently a regular requirement.
Position Summary
The QC Laboratory Technician I performs laboratory testing and quality evaluations of cosmetic products and raw materials to ensure they meet established specifications, quality requirements, and industry standards.
This position requires hands-on bench color experience and previous experience within the cosmetics industry. The technician will perform analytical and visual testing, document results, maintain laboratory equipment, and partner with Quality, Production, and R&D teams to support consistent product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine quality control testing of cosmetic products, raw materials, and samples.
- Conduct bench color evaluations, including color matching, visual assessments, and color adjustments.
- Perform analytical testing according to established procedures, specifications, and SOPs.
- Accurately document, review, and report laboratory test results.
- Identify results that fall outside established specifications and assist with investigations and corrective actions.
- Calibrate, operate, clean, and maintain laboratory and analytical instrumentation.
- Maintain standard chemical inventory and follow established chemical handling and safety procedures.
- Support product quality, consistency, and troubleshooting in collaboration with Production and R&D teams.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in accordance with quality requirements.
- Follow GMP, safety, regulatory, and company quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Perform additional laboratory and quality-related responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, a related scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Previous experience working in a Quality Control laboratory environment.
- Hands-on bench color experience is required.
- Cosmetics industry experience is required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow written procedures and specifications.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of analytical chemistry experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 1-3 years of GMP knowledge or experience.
- Experience with color measurement tools, color-matching techniques, and visual color evaluation.
- Familiarity with cosmetic formulations, ingredients, and raw materials.
- Experience calibrating and maintaining analytical laboratory instrumentation.
- Experience working within a regulated or GMP-controlled manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
This position operates primarily within a laboratory/manufacturing environment and involves working with cosmetic products, samples, raw materials, chemicals, and laboratory equipment. The role may require standing for extended periods and routinely handling laboratory samples and instrumentation.
