Job summary

ALTEN in California is seeking a laboratory support assistant to maintain inventory, process orders in SAP, and ensure compliance with cGMP and SOPs.

You will help with sample receipt, instrument maintenance, and documentation, while collaborating with the QC team to keep operations running smoothly.

This role requires HS diploma, basic IT skills, and the ability to lift and handle liquids safely; flexible hours and U.S. work authorization are expected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of college-level coursework in biological science.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to lift LN2 freezer rack up to 20 L.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Flexible with working hours.
  • Knowledge of current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Order reagents, consumables, and office supplies in SAP and restock workstation items.
  • Maintain cleanliness of laboratory equipment and perform scheduled cleaning (daily, monthly, semi-annual, annual).
  • Assist with receipt and documentation of incoming samples, reagents, and chemicals.
  • Perform activities in accordance with SOPs and cGMP requirements.
  • Record activities in laboratory equipment logbooks with good documentation practices.
  • Handle liquid nitrogen–frozen samples and chemicals as needed.
  • Report safety incidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor and team to prioritize tasks.
  • Suggest improvements to enhance team efficiency and productivity.
  • Support archival of Quality Control data, including preparing binders and scanning documents.
  • Review test method data and supporting documentation.
  • Perform equipment maintenance testing as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Perform essential laboratory support activities, including maintaining consumable and material inventory, disposing of expired reagents, and identifying and reporting equipment-related issues.

Responsibilities
  • Order laboratory reagents, consumables, and office supplies in SAP, restock workstation consumables, and organize reagents by expiration date using a first-in, first-out approach.
  • Maintain cleanliness of laboratory equipment, and perform daily, monthly, semi-annual, and annual cleaning activities as needed.
  • Assist with receipt and documentation of incoming samples, reagents, and chemicals.
  • Perform laboratory activities in accordance with applicable SOPs and cGMP requirements.
  • Follow good documentation practices when recording activities in laboratory equipment logbooks.
  • Handle liquid nitrogen-frozen samples and chemicals as needed.
  • Immediately report safety incidents to the supervisor.

Skills

High School Diploma or GED and completion of college-level coursework in biological science or related science major.

  • Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good organization skills.
  • Flexible with working hours.
  • Knowledge of current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) is a plus.
  • Good verbal and communication skills; able to maintain good interaction with peers and leadership within Quality Control.
  • Physically able to lift LN2 freezer rack or move up to 20 L buffer as needed during laboratory activities.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Education
