Job summary

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Chemistry or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in an analytical lab.
  • 3 years of previous lab supervisory and statistical experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interact across all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all QC lab activities in the assigned area.
  • Review data produced by chemists and technicians; enforce PPE and SOP compliance.
  • Manage day-to-day laboratory operations and prioritize workloads to meet business needs.
  • Be the primary contact to support manufacturing and engineering process requirements.
  • React to and report non-standard, out-of-control (OOC) and out-of-spec (OOS) conditions.
  • Support safety programs and promote safe work practices (EHS).
  • Provide training/mentoring to develop QC chemists and lab staff.
  • Maintain instrument health, maintenance, calibration, and service arrangements.

The Role

This working Supervisor role is to supervise and coordinate all QC lab activities within his/her area. Reviewing data produced by the chemists and technicians, enforcing PPE rules, ensuring that SOP's are followed for analysis and data manipulation, evaluating the skills of chemists and technicians in the lab and giving inputs for the performance review process.

This position will supervise our 3rd shift operations. Must be able to work Monday thru Thursday 8pm to 6:30am, 4 day, 10 hour schedule.

Job Description

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Manage day to day laboratory operations and prioritize workloads to meet business needs
  • Analyzing QC samples, working side by side with chemist in support of production
  • Be a main point of contact to support manufacturing and engineering process requirements
  • React, respond and report out non-standard, OOC and OOS conditions generated from all levels of the manufacturing process
  • Promote, improve and enforce safety by supporting current practices, engaging new innovative development and administer all aspects of safety by supporting EHS
  • Supporting R&D metrology with personnel for GR&R, training and instrument troubleshooting to flawlessly implement and maintain analytical methods
  • Support and drive management of change from beginning to end
  • Responsible for training and/or mentoring to develop QC Chemists’ personnel needs
  • Administrating and promoting instrument health, maintenance, calibration and outside service support
  • Order administration for your areas of responsibility
  • Evaluation and Performance reviews with personnel under your supervision
  • Responsible for overall, scheduling of your areas personnel to cover company requirements
  • Ensure the team is functionally cohesively and maintaining good working relationship with all other departments and team members

REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS degree in Chemistry or related degree a technical field such as Biochemistry, Biology, Physics or Mathematics, and a minimum of 5 years of experience working in an analytical lab
  • 3 years of previous lab supervisory and statistical experience required.Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and within different functional groups
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment to include multi-tasking and handling constant changes in prioritiesDatabase administration experience to include MS Access and SQL Server
  • Experience with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work third shift. Monday thru Thursday 8pm to 6:30am, 4 day, 10 hour schedule.This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment. One of the essential job functions is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
