Title: Quality Control Inspector Lead
Location: American Fork or Provo, Utah
Shift: Swing (1:30 pm to 10:00 pm) Grave (9:30 pm to 6:00 am)
Pay: (Swing $27.00 an hour Graves: $28.00 an hour)
What You’ll Do
- Perform and verify in-process and finished-product inspections; audit production checks and process controls; and maintain accurate, traceable quality documentation.
- Identify defects, deviations, or food-safety concerns; place product on hold as needed; escalation appropriately; and lead containment and corrective-action follow-up in partnership with Production, Sanitation, Warehouse, and Maintenance.
- Ensure compliance to specifications, SOPs, GMPs, and safety/food-safety requirements; support internal audits and readiness activities; and communicate status, findings, and actions to leadership.
- Provide daily direction, coaching, and training to QC Inspectors; monitor quality checks for accuracy and timeliness; and help maintain consistent expectations across shifts/areas.
- Promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and food safety; keep work areas clean and compliant; provide coverage as needed; and complete other duties as assigned.
- Follow all company policies and procedures as defined by management.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Quality Control role, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, food science, or a related field (preferred).
- Working knowledge of food-safety programs (e.g., HACCP, SQF, FSMA); relevant certifications are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to follow and enforce GMPs, food-safety, and safety policies; escalation nonconformances and stop/hold product when required.
- Understanding of documentation and data integrity expectations (accurate, timely, legible records) to support audits, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with FSMA Preventive Controls concepts (hazard awareness, preventive measures, verification, and corrective actions) and how they apply to day-to-day manufacturing controls.
- Experience with allergen and label controls (segregation, changeovers, label verification) and the ability to recognize and expedite mislabeling or cross-contact risks.
- Working knowledge of lot control and traceability expectations (materials and finished goods) to support mock recalls, investigations, and third-party/regulatory audit readiness (e.g., SQF/BRC).
- Commitment to professional conduct, confidentiality, and a strong compliance culture; ability to communicate requirements clearly and respectfully.
- Proficiency with computers and quality data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to upholding quality and food-safety standards.
