Job summary

Phoenix Defense, LLC in Gilbert, AZ seeks a Quality Control Inspector I to support aerospace manufacturing. You will perform diverse inspections, read aerospace drawings, verify dimensions and finishes, and help ensure products meet customer requirements.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 1+ year of relevant experience, GD&T literacy, and familiarity with CMM and surface plate layouts; strong attention to detail and basic PC skills are required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of relevant industry experience.
  • Able to interpret aerospace blueprints and GD&T blueprints.
  • Able to read and comprehend work documentation in English.
  • Proficient in PC skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Familiar with first piece inspection, GD&T, operating a CMM and mechanical inspection/surface plate layout.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 Audit Process.
  • Knowledge of operating a CMM and mechanical inspection/surface plate layout.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diversified granite rock or bench inspections on aerospace parts, products, assemblies, or raw materials.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments, including electronic devices.
  • Read and interpret aerospace drawings, specifications and customer documents.
  • Inspect product to verify color, finish, dimensions, hardness, density or other characteristics.
  • Perform detailed first article inspections following the installation of full assembly.
  • Recommend, write or modify sampling and inspections procedures.
  • Use statistical tools to chart variance.
  • Work with internal inspectors and operations to ensure products meet requirements.
  • Support cross-functional teams in quality improvement projects, focusing on process improvements, scrap reduction, and supplier quality.

What You Will Do

As the Quality Control Inspector I, responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:

  • Perform diversified granite rock or bench inspections on a variety of standard or custom aerospace parts, products, assemblies, or raw materials that are being used in manufacturing products.
  • Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments, including electronic devices.
  • Read and interpret aerospace drawings, specifications and customer documents.
  • Inspect product to verify correct color, finish, dimensions, hardness, density or other measurable or observable characteristics of material.
  • Perform detailed first article inspections following the installation of full assembly.
  • Recommend, write or modify sampling and inspections procedures.
  • Use statistical tools to chart variance.
  • Work with internal inspectors and operations personnel to ensure product manufactured meet customer requirements.
  • Support cross-functional teams in the execution and reporting of quality improvement projects with a focus on overall process improvements, scrap reduction and supplier quality improvement.
About You
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One more years of relevant industry experience.
  • Able to interpret aerospace blueprints and GD&T blueprints.
  • Able to read and comprehend work documentation in the English.
  • Proficient in PC skills (Microsoft Office Suite applications).
  • Familiar with first Piece inspection, GD & T, Operating a CMM and mechanical inspection/surface plate layout.
  • Self-motivated individual that needs minimal supervision to be successful.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 Audit Process.
  • Knowledge of operating a CMM and mechanical inspection/surface plate layout.
  • Requires strong attention to detail, organizational, time management and follow-up skills.
