Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Quality Checker in the Global Coatings Division to inspect galvanized products, verify coating thickness, and ensure conformance to customer standards.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with measuring devices, operate tools, and travel occasionally to customers.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and following work instructions.
• Identify and communicate product problems to supervision.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures and conditions.

Responsibilities

• Inspects galvanized product to insure conformance to company and customer standards.
• Tests coating thickness of product with calibrated thickness gauge and records on form.
• Inspects galvanized or coated products using fixed and variable measuring instruments.
• Inspects for irregularities in coatings; non-coated areas, icicles, drips, zinc build up, ash or other matter.
• Compares product count with production schedule to ensure finished product matches customer count.
• Responsible for rejecting product that does not meet standards.
• Able to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Occasional travel offsite to customer.
• Maintains a clean and hazard-free workplace; protects self and others from accident and injury.
• Exhibits safety practices and follows Valmont policies.

• Inspects galvanized or coated products using fixed and variable measuring instruments
• Inspects for irregularities in coatings; non-coated areas, icicles, drips, zinc build up, ash or other foreign matter on the freshly galvanized or coated products.
• Compares product count with productions schedule to insure finished product matches customer count.
• Responsible for rejecting product that does not meet customer and company standards
• Able to work independently
• Excellent communication skills
• Occasional travel offsite to customer
• Maintains a clean and hazard-free workplace; protects self and others from accident and injury.
• Exhibit excellent safety practices and behaviors and follows the intended purposes of Valmont safety policies and procedures

• The ability to identify and communicate product problems to departmental supervision
• The ability to work in extreme temperatures and conditionsMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

• One year of previous experience in a manufacturing and fabrication environment
• One year of previous experience in a quality control or related position
• One year of previous experience with operating hand and/or power tools
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers and customers in a positive manner
• The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
