Job Summary

Join our team as a Quality Assurance Specialist I in Houston, TX, where you will play a vital role in upholding both company and regulatory quality standards throughout the manufacturing process of electrical products such as switchboards, motor control centers (MCC), and motor control panels. This entry‑level position is designed for professionals who are eager to develop their skills and gain hands‑on experience in quality assurance within a highly regulated industry. Reporting typically to a departmental manager, you will be entrusted with inspecting products, auditing quality data, and ensuring compliance with governmental and customer‑specific requirements. This role is ideal for individuals with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience who have 0-2 years in a related quality or manufacturing environment. You will receive close management and guidance as you work on projects and tasks of limited complexity, contributing to continuous improvement efforts and supporting the company’s commitment to safety and quality excellence. As part of a collaborative team environment, your attention to detail and dedication will help maintain the product integrity and customer satisfaction that defines our organization.

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect and Hi-Pot testing of switchboard, MCC, Motor Control panel product produced on all lines, according to inspection work instructions and in accordance with applicable governmental requirements, to confirm proper function of all product and electrical components, identify any product non-conformances, and ensure it meets customer specification, safety and quality requirements. Document inspections made on applicable checklist.
• Use Hi-Pot, continuity test, and component-specific testing devices to perform electrical testing (i.e. Megger, Breaker Tester, etc.). Verify switches and circuit breakers function properly. Verify torqued connections using torque wrench, per inspection instructions. Conduct electrical and mechanical tests per safety and training requirements and procedures. (Hi-Pot, Continuity)
• Examine and verify mating structures (all structures in a line‑up) as necessary to ensure that job is complete and field installation is problem‑free (i.e. splice plate dimensions, kirk key coordination, etc.).
• Verify that any revisions released to the production floor regarding functionality and customer specifications are incorporated into the product, all documentation reflects the current revision, and previous revisions of documents are not used / discarded. (Process and Update paperwork accurately – BOM, test reports, etc.)
• Thoroughly document and communicate non‑conformances, which are critical quality records, and verify required rework to aid problem solving and continuous improvement efforts. Communicate design errors to appropriate front‑end personnel for correction, obtain revisions, and verify required rework.
• Serve as an informal trainer for production associates, communicate well with other associates, and build positive relationships that support job objectives and teamwork. Helping particularly for complex tasks and for product requirements that may not be precisely defined (i.e. barrier placement).
• Troubleshoot, update, develop test setups and new procedures when current procedures are inaccurate.

• In-process inspection during the fabrication & production stages (i.e. Bending, Welding, Painting, Assembly, etc.).

Job Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, persuasive skills, and analytical problem‑solving skills. Work with individuals and groups to effectively participate within a team environment.
• Knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality, schematics/wiring diagrams and assembly processes on all lines. (SWBD, MCC, Motor controls, etc.).
• Knowledge of all assembled SWBD, MCC, Motor Control panel product designs (i.e. Cutler Hammer, Siemens, Eaton, GE, etc.)
• Experience in applicable UL codes, NEC codes, regional utility codes, customer‑specific requirements.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret manufacturing documents, including front view, MIs, Blow‑Thru, Wiring Diagrams, component literature, engineering drawings, and testing procedures.
• Requires thorough knowledge of basic electricity, current flow and component functionality.

Essential Job Function

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 6 months manufacturing, production, or military experience OR a degree in a technical discipline
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
• No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area will be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in a Quality or Inspector position in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in switchboard, MCC, motor control panel assembly.
• Computer literate.
• Working knowledge of Lean concepts.
• Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
