Job summary

Actalent, Inc. in Greensboro, NC, is seeking a QC / Formulation Chemist for a contract opportunity. You will engage in formulation development, quality testing, and product development within a modern R&D laboratory.

You will gain hands-on experience with coatings, analytical testing, and manufacturing support while collaborating with experienced scientists in a safety-focused environment. This role runs Monday–Friday in a fully onsite facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry is required.
• Laboratory testing experience through industry, internships, co-ops, or academic research.
• Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques.
• Experience with wet chemistry and titration methods.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced technical environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality control and performance testing on specialty coatings and related materials.
• Perform wet chemistry analyses, titrations, and physical property testing.
• Execute ASTM and other industry-standard test methods.
• Support formulation development and optimization projects.
• Conduct corrosion, weathering, humidity, and salt spray testing.
• Investigate customer complaints through testing and root cause analysis.
• Assist with product scale-up and manufacturing support activities.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and technical documentation.
• Interpret test results and communicate findings to technical teams.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and technical service groups.
