Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review, monitor, analyze, abstract, and code clinical trial data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Review and edit research protocols related to data collection and monitor adherence.
  • Perform quality-control activities to ensure data integrity and completeness.
  • Maintain clinical research databases and coordinate timely data delivery with data suppliers.

The Clinical Trial Coordination (CTC) QC and Preceptorship Senior Data Coordinator works within a multidisciplinary team that supports clinical research studies conducted across Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The position is responsible for collecting, reviewing, analyzing, and abstracting clinical research data; ensuring data quality, protocol compliance, and timely completion of study-related data activities. Reporting to the Clinical Research Training and Preceptorship Manager, this role also supports onboarding, preceptorship, training, and quality activities for Data Coordinators and research staff.

This position serves as a subject matter expert in clinical research data coordination practices and works in close collaboration with investigators, providers, and research staff across multiple disease areas to support consistent application of data management, quality assurance, and data coordination best practices.

To maintain operational expertise and support departmental needs, this position maintains an active portfolio of clinical research studies, or assumes responsibility for assigned studies as needed, to support operational coverage, maintain subject matter expertise, and inform training and quality-improvement activities.

This role is designed for someone who is hands-on and enjoys directly engaging with research staff to identify needs and drive improvements in clinical research data coordination practices.

Responsibilities
  • Review, monitor, analyze, abstract, and code patient/participant clinical trial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and compliance with study protocols and applicable requirements.
  • Review and edit research protocols related to data collection; monitor protocol adherence and communicate potential violations, discrepancies, or data-quality concerns through established escalation pathways.
  • Perform routine audits, quality-control activities, assessments, and quality reviews to ensure the completeness, integrity, accuracy, and reliability of research data.
  • Maintain clinical research databases and support data management activities, including coordination with data suppliers to ensure timely, accurate, and complete delivery of research data.
  • Serve as a liaison and resource to Physicians, Investigators, study teams, sponsors, and external organizations regarding data collection, protocol requirements, data management processes, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate quality-control reviews conducted by Investigators, sponsors, regulatory bodies, or appointed agencies and assist with preparation of required documentation and response activities.
  • Participate in committees, workgroups, and quality-assurance initiatives related to data quality, operational effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Support assigned onboarding, orientation, preceptorship, and continued education activities for Data Coordinators by sharing established workflows, training resources, practical guidance, protocols, systems knowledge, and departmental best practices.
  • Provide peer support for routine and complex data coordination activities, including data abstraction, electronic data capture, case report form completion, query resolution, data reconciliation, and protocol implementation; communicate identified knowledge gaps, workflow concerns, potential deviations, or training-related issues through established channels.
  • Assist in the development, review, revision, testing, maintenance, and implementation of training and operational resources, tools, templates, checklists, reference materials, and standardized workflows that support consistent data coordination practices.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise and operational feedback to support workflow improvements, resource development, corrective-action implementation, process standardization, and identification of training and quality-improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain an active portfolio of clinical research studies, or assume responsibility for assigned studies based on departmental needs, to support operational coverage, maintain subject-matter expertise, and inform training, resource-development, and quality-improvement activities.
  • Assist in evaluating, designing, developing, testing, and improving systems, programs, functions, procedures, reports, analyses, and timelines related to research data collection, processing, entry, management, reporting, and quality control.
  • Apply established regulatory, protocol, institutional, and departmental requirements to assigned data coordination activities and promptly escalates potential compliance, patient safety, or data-quality concerns through established channels;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS, RRA, ART, or two year degree in the medical field.
  • Three years of experience in medical records, cancer registry, or related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in design and/or build of case report forms.
  • CCRP or CCRC accreditation.
  • Experience mentoring or precepting.
  • Experience developing training materials, tools, standard operating procedures, or operational resources.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical research data collection, abstraction, query resolution, and data quality practices.
  • Strong computer skills and experience working with databases.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Medical terminology.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $31.83 to $47.73 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
