Job summary

Lonza is seeking a QC Analyst I based in Houston, TX, to perform sampling of incoming materials and run safety and identity testing on materials used in manufacturing. This 6-month contract role emphasizes compliance with cGMP and GDP, and requires meticulous documentation and strict chain-of-custody practices.

The role is fully site-based, enabling close collaboration and precise testing to ensure finished medicines meet quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Early-career scientist seeking to develop technical laboratory and quality system expertise in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with cGMP, GDP, and data integrity standards.
• Hands-on experience with basic analytical testing and reagent preparation.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate recordkeeping.
• Ability to handle, label, and maintain chain of custody for materials.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within Quality Control.

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling of incoming raw materials, components, and process materials according to approved procedures.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling, chain of custody, and storage of sampled materials.
• Maintain sampling areas and equipment in a clean and compliant state.
• Support material disposition activities through timely collection and delivery of samples.
• Conduct required safety and identity testing of raw materials and buffers using approved analytical methods.
• Prepare reagents, standards, and test solutions as required.
• Accurately document testing activities and results in laboratory systems and controlled records.
• Review test data for completeness and compliance with applicable procedures.
• Escalate atypical results, deviations, or quality concerns to management.
• Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and laboratory procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
