Job summary

Overwatch Mission Critical is seeking a Commissioning QA/QC Data Center Technician with an electrical state license to ensure quality and compliance in data center construction and operations. You will identify risks, verify adherence to standards, and collaborate with engineers and project teams throughout the lifecycle.

• Proficient with tablets (iPad) for daily tasks and documentation.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork with engineers and PMs.
• Proficiency in MS Office; valid driver's license may be required.
• Prior CMMS experience is a plus; electrical space certifications are a plus.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commissioning QA/QC Data Center Technician with an electrical state license to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of our data center construction and operations. You will play a key role in identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of data center construction projects, ensuring compliance with blueprints, specifications, and industry standards.
• Perform quality control testing on data center equipment and infrastructure, including power.
• Identify and document non-conformance, and collaborate with the construction team to implement corrective actions.
• Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to ensure all systems function properly.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of inspections, tests, and findings.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders for quality assurance throughout the data center lifecycle.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and quality standards for data center construction and operations.
• May contribute to the development and implementation of data center quality control programs.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of construction experience with a strong focus on Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
• Demonstrated experience supporting BESS projects, including installation, operations, maintenance, quality control, or construction over.
• Strong understanding of Single-Line Drawings/ Blueprints
• Proven understanding of data center design principles, construction methods, and industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute Tier Standards, BICSI).
• Experience with data center inspection procedures and quality control testing methods.
• Proficient in using tablet devices (e.g., iPad) for daily work tasks, including email, document creation/editing, and utilizing industry-specific software programs
• CPR/First Aid
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with various stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver's license may be required.
• Prior experience with CMMS is a plus.
• Certifications in the electrical space as well as data center design or operations (e.g., CDCP, NFPA 70e, OSHA 10/30) are a plus.

Driver's License Requirement

For roles that require on-site presence or travel between work locations as an essential function of the position, candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver's license appropriate for the role and be eligible to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with applicable laws.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position operates primarily in an active data center construction environment, encompassing both indoor and outdoor work settings. The role requires the physical ability to perform essential job functions safely and effectively in a dynamic environment that includes ongoing construction activity and evolving site conditions.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
• Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
• Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in and around active construction areas, which may include unfinished buildings, temporary field offices, staging areas, and partially completed infrastructure. These locations may contain uneven surfaces, limited accessibility, and other conditions typical of construction projects prior to final completion. Overwatch does not control and cannot modify accessibility conditions within areas, facilities, or temporary structures owned or managed by third parties.
