Quality Assurance Technician
Work Schedule & Location:
Sunday – Friday, 7am to 4:00pm – 6 days per week
Summary of Position
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager/Director, the Quality Assurance Technician will ensure that ingredients, finished product and packaging comply with food safety and food quality requirements.
Focus
Basic inspections, data collection, and adherence to established procedures under supervision.
- Product Inspection:
- Perform routine checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Conduct visual inspections for defects, damage, or contamination.
- Collect, document, analyze, and interpret production and quality data.
- Testing and Measurements:
- Perform routine inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with company specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
- Carry out basic tests, such as size dimensions and temperature checks, using standard equipment.
- Verify product weight, packaging integrity, and labeling accuracy.
- Perform HACCP Critical Control Points tests.
- Conduct sensory evaluations as required.
- Documentation:
- Record data from inspections and tests accurately in logs or electronic systems such as Redzone or Excel.
- Report non-conformances or deviations to supervisors.
- Hygiene and Sanitation Monitoring:
- Ensure that equipment, production areas, and tools meet sanitation and cleanliness requirements. Report issues to the QA Manager/Director, Food Safety Manager/Director, or Production Supervisor.
- Compliance:
- Follow company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist in ensuring adherence to regulatory standards such as FDA, USDA, or HACCP.
- Identify and place unacceptable raw, in process and finished product on hold and complete all the necessary documentation.
- Monitor and verify procedures to ensure adherence to quality program requirements.
- Monitor and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and compliance to food safety requirements. Reports issues to the QA Manager/Director, Food Safety Manager/Director, or Production Supervisor.
- Verify packaging Labels match the product.
- Support:
- Assist in preparing samples for internal or external laboratory testing.
- Support production and/or R&D teams in collection of data during plant trials or commercialization runs.
- Support senior technicians and QA specialists in audits or investigations.
Qualifications / Experience Desired
- High school diploma or associate’s degree.
- 1 year of related experience in food manufacturing.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Computer literate including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work with small instruments and or equipment for measurements or readings.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Flexibility to work 6 consecutive days, overtime and weekends if necessary.
- Preferred: Food processing or packaging experience in an automated, high-speed packaging environment.
Compensation / Hourly Rate:
$23.51 – plus overtime

Work Environment and Job Physical Demands
These conditions are common to individuals working in the plant.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Exposure to extreme hot conditions on such equipment as operating fryers and extreme cold conditions such as blast spiral freezers.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and fumes.
- Standing and walking on slippery floors.
- Working in close proximity to equipment and other employees.
- Lifting of up to 50 pounds and movement of equipment.
