Elios, Inc. is seeking an experienced QA Technical Leader at the Director level to own quality engineering for health insurer platforms. The role combines hands-on coding with leadership to deliver reliable cloud-native and AI-powered systems.

You will lead QA teams, define automation and AI testing practices, and ensure release quality while communicating risk to senior stakeholders. Travel to Boston is expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of QA engineers and automation specialists, mentoring them through hard technical problems and day-to-day delivery
• Set the technical direction for test automation and AI testing practices across your product or platform area
• Build and review automation frameworks hands-on in Java, Selenium, Playwright, and TypeScript
• Define how the team tests AI agents, LLMs, and ML models, including how to measure quality when outputs aren't deterministic
• Run technical reviews and keep test strategy aligned with architecture decisions
• Own release quality: primary accountability for readiness to ship
• Present quality status and risk to engineering and product leadership
• Partner with architects, engineering leads, and product managers on priorities and tradeoffs
• Embed testing into CI/CD pipelines so quality checks run early and often

Location: Boston, MA preferred (East Coast considered, with travel to Boston) | Type: Full Time | Experience: 15+ years | Pay: $200K-$210K + Bonus

About the Role

We're hiring a QA Technical Leader at the Director level to own quality engineering for a large health insurer's cloud-native and AI-powered platforms. This is a working leadership role. You'll write code, debug flaky suites, and shape automation frameworks with your team, while also owning delivery, release quality, and the conversations with senior stakeholders about risk.

You'll be placed through a global digital consultancy known for large-scale technology delivery in healthcare and other regulated industries. The work spans traditional test automation and the newer problem of validating AI agents, LLMs, and ML-driven features, so you'll be setting direction in an area where most teams are still figuring out what good looks like.

What You'll Do

Qualifications

Experience and Leadership

• 15+ years in software quality engineering, with recent time leading QA teams at the Senior Architect or Director level
• At least 3 to 4 years working in the healthcare domain (payer, provider, or health tech)
• A track record of leading and mentoring engineers while staying hands-on with code
• Clear, confident communication with senior engineering and product leaders

Technical Depth

• Strong programming skills in Java (preferred), plus TypeScript and SQL
• Hands-on automation with Selenium and Java, and Playwright (experience with Playwright MCP is a plus)
• Solid grounding in OOP, design patterns, and software architecture principles
• Experience testing applications on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
• Practical experience validating AI agents, LLMs, or AI/ML features
• Working knowledge of tools like Appium, Cypress, WebdriverIO, REST Assured, Postman, TestNG/JUnit, and Maven
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps, and Git-based workflows
