QA / QC Manager - Data Center Facilities Operations - Richmond VA

We are looking for an experienced Data Center Colo QA/QC Manager to support a critical facility data center construction project. The QA/QC Manager will be responsible for managing the overall quality of multiple data center construction projects, with a focus on installation and commissioning of key infrastructure systems in accordance with the company's policies and procedures. These data centers operate 24/7/365. Responsibilities include delivering quality and consistent services and support as established by the corporation while satisfying unique site requirements, managing issue resolution and ensuring proper performance reporting of key metrics for the region, and establishing goals and objectives for the region based on strategic and business plans.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic site walk‑throughs to ensure company procedures and standards are followed.
• Communicate the status of the operations process with senior management.
• Conduct site acceptance and commissioning of the facility to meet company standards.
• Assist in developing procedures/Method of Procedures (MOPs) for the DC build and approve MOPs for data hall work.
• Provide coverage for onsite data center manager with routine and emergency service for critical systems such as medium voltage switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression, building monitoring systems, etc.
• Supervise on‑site facility management, technicians, subcontractors and vendors to ensure all work follows established practices.
• Manage client relationships and act as escalation point of contact for the company at each site.
• Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses and prepare reports on all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance.
• Coordinate with business leaders to manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency.
• Review MOPs and SOPs for all work on critical data center facility equipment.
• Maintain readiness in support of the mission goal of 99.999% uptime.
• Conduct critical facilities Operations and Maintenance program analysis and reporting.
• Design Critical Environment Programs for internal and external clients.
• Coordinate with Design/Construction Team.
• Provide consulting services on existing critical environment O/M programs.
• Assess, recommend and implement industry best practices into new and existing Critical Environment Programs.
• Provide feedback to senior management for continuous improvement.
• Develop process documentation and training materials.

Qualifications

• 5‑7+ years of data center facility construction and commissioning experience.
• 3‑5 years of Quality Assurance / Quality Controls experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in data center facilities and solid understanding of critical electrical and mechanical/HVAC equipment in a data center environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Superior analytical, planning and problem‑resolution skills.
• Highly organized with proven project management abilities.
• Excellent verbal, written communication skills and customer‑relation skills.
• Ability to work independently; self‑starter and able to prioritize well.
• Proactive, resourceful, delegator and multitasker.
• Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Travel required as needed (up to 50%).
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Previous experience in the Military is a huge plus.
