Job summary

Strike Group seeks QA/QC Inspectors to provide oversight of QMS, codes, regulatory and project specifications during fabrication, including review and completion of QA/QC materials and welding compliance at the project site.

Employees are expected to support a safety culture and adhere to Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, treating others with dignity, respect and fairness. Local candidates preferred in the High Level area.

Qualifications

  • Must hold CWB Level 2 Welding Inspector with B31.3, W47.1, W59, CSA Z662 endorsements.
  • NACE Coating Inspector Level 1 or AMPP Basic Coatings cert is a plus.
  • Relevant technical diploma or trade certificate required.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate quality requirements with management, staff and clients.
  • Verify site activities comply with quality codes and standards.
  • Distribute QA/QC documentation to site sub-contractors.
  • Provide feedback to management on QA/QC matters.
  • Review IFC P&IDs, ISOs, and vessel drawings for WPS references.
  • Ensure proper QA/QC implementation in shop and on site.
  • Complete pre-project docs to kickoff projects.
  • Assist with material receiving to ensure conformance.
  • Ensure weld and NDE mapping and visual inspection are completed.
  • Ensure NDE reports and film traceability.
  • Witness hydrotest packages and testing practices.
  • Monitor work via QC audit process for compliance.
  • Identify and manage NCRs with remedial action.
  • Prepare regulatory docs and organize project files for turnover.
  • Manage and file all controlled documents.
  • Assist training of trades personnel in QA/QC practices.

Job description

QA/QC Inspectors provide QMS, code, regulatory, and project specification oversight to ensure project compliance during fabrication including review and completion of project QA/QC materials and welding compliance, inspection, and testing activities at the project site.

POSITION DETAILS
  • Candidates local to the High Level area preferred
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Communicate the quality requirements with management, staff, and clients
  • Verify that all site activities comply with the quality codes and standards
  • Distribute quality control documentation to site sub-contractors.
  • Provide appropriate feedback to management regarding QA/QC matters
  • Review IFC P&IDs, ISOs, and vessel drawings to ensure appropriate WPS are referenced with weld details and overall accuracy
  • Ensure the proper implementation of all QA/QC requirements in the shop and on site
  • Ensure the proper completion of pre-project documentation (e.g., Contract Reviews/ITP/WPS approval, etc.) to ensure the successful kickoff of projects
  • Perform pre-inspections and assist with material receiving processes to ensure that all fabricated and installed materials conform with the applicable standards, drawings, and specifications
  • Ensure proper weld and NDE mapping and visual inspection is complete
  • Ensure proper NDE report and radiographic film traceability
  • Ensure proper hydrotest packages are complete and witness testing activities to ensure proper testing practices are followed
  • Continually monitor work in progress via the QC audit process to ensure compliance with QA/QC and other project requirements
  • Identify and control all NCR's while correcting with remedial action
  • Prepare required (regulatory) documentation and organize project files for final turnover to the client
  • Ensure proper management, storage, and filing of all controlled documents
  • Assist with training up and coming trades personnel in QA/QC practices and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • CWB Welding Inspector Level 2 certificate with B31.3, W47.1, W59, and CSA Z662 endorsements required
  • NACE Coating Inspector Level 1/AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector certificate an asset
  • Relevant technical diploma or trade certificate required
Experience
  • Working knowledge of ASME and CSA codes (Pressure Vessels, Process Piping, and Structural)

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Developed analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
