Job summary

BCP Engineers & Consultants seeks a QA/QC Technician II to provide QA/QC support for Field Service Operations, with substantial time spent in the field on project sites. The role collaborates with PMs, Contract Managers, and On-Site Supervisors to implement quality processes and uphold a strong quality culture across the company.

The position requires a thorough knowledge of QA/QC, flexibility for extended travel, and willingness to work extended hours. Prior solar experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in construction QA/QC or related field.
  • Experience as Superintendent, Foreman, or Master Electrician.
  • SME in electrical work, ideally with solar experience.
  • Willingness to travel and extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to administer Project Specific Quality Plans.
  • Review inspection details with SMEs to confirm quality or non-conformance.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party vendors and testing firms for QC.
  • Maintain QA/QC program for Field Services operations.
  • Maintain Quality Training program for Field Services personnel.
  • Maintain documentation and records per procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with approved submittals and purchased materials.
  • Assist in project close-out documentation and distribution.
  • Analyze data and report QA/QC metrics.

Manager is seeking strong QA/QC background or experience as a former Superintendent, Foreman, or Master Electrician, SME in electrical work, ideally with solar experience

The general role of the QA/QC Technician II is to provide QA and QC (Quality Assurance / Quality Control) related support and guidance for Field Service Operations. This role will work in conjunction with Project Managers, Contract Managers, On-Site Supervisors, other Field Services Division personnel, and the QA/QC Manager to ensure the QA/QC processes and procedures of the Company are implemented, followed, and meet both internal and external requirements. A significant amount of time will be expected to be spent in the field on project sites. This position must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of QA/QC and must be proficient with the products and services provided by the company, with the goal of establishing the company as an industry leader with a strong quality culture. This position will require a flexible schedule with extended travel and out-of-town work and the willingness to work work extended hours.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with management teams to administer and monitor Project Specific Quality Plans (that includes project “hold” points, schedule of inspections, etc.) for assigned jobs
  • In conjunction with internal subject matter experts, review inspection details to determine if projects meet quality standards or are in non-conformance
  • Coordinate with 3rd Party vendors and testing firms as they relate to quality control as required
  • Assist in managing and maintaining the QA/QC program to assist Field Services operations
  • Assist in managing and maintaining a Quality Training program for Field Services personnel
  • Responsible for the collection of documentation and records for assigned projects and ensure they are maintained in accordance with defined procedures
  • Ensure projects comply with approved source of supply requirements. (i.e., approved submittals are in place and purchased materials conform along with supporting documents)
  • Assist the project management teams with identifying, packaging, and presenting project close out documentation to management and properly maintain according to defined procedures
  • Obtain and assist in the distribution of QA/QC statistical data and report to Field Services Management
  • Analyze data and recommend actions to assist in the continued improvement of the group’s processes, controls, and systems
  • Participate in regular all-hands meetings as required for assigned projects
  • Work in a safe manner on construction sites while gathering information, performing project inspections and reporting inspection results
  • Play a key role in the constant development of a strong Quality and Safety Culture amongst the on-site team for assigned projects
  • Maintain a working knowledge of each of the trades within Field Services
  • Lead and mentor other QA/QC technicians

  • 5+ years of experience serving in a construction QA/QC capacity
  • Possess or pursuing a Degree in Construction Management, Accounting, Business Management, or related disciplines preferred
  • Working knowledge of various industrial construction trades required
  • Valid driver’s license required and ability to maintain status as an approved company driver
  • Ability to understand projects from a QA/QC perspective and identify items of importance
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and determine solutions
  • Must be results-oriented and methodical in following processes and procedures
  • Must be able to work independently and with a cross-functional team
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and positive relationships with internal peers as well as external customers
  • Aptitude for leadership preferred
  • Ability to be proficient in the use of project management software such as Procore
