We are looking for an experienced and hands-on QA Manager to lead our Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs. This position plays an important role in ensuring that our products consistently meet company quality standards and all applicable food safety and regulatory requirements.
The QA Manager will oversee day-to-day quality and food safety activities, lead the QA team, maintain compliance programs, and work closely with production and other departments to identify and resolve quality issues.
This position will also serve as a key point of contact with USDA personnel and help ensure the facility remains compliant with FDA, USDA, SQF, HACCP, GMP, and other applicable requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and manage QA Assistants and QA personnel to ensure an effective quality and food safety program.
- Oversee compliance with quality and food safety requirements related to:
- Incoming materials and ingredient inspections
- In-process quality control
- Finished product evaluation
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Local, state, and federal regulations
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the company's Quality and Food Safety Management System and Food Safety Plan.
- Ensure required quality and food safety documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained.
- Support and coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation, follow-up, and corrective actions.
- Monitor and enforce company food safety and quality standards throughout the facility.
- Investigate quality and food safety concerns and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot quality issues involving ingredients, packaging materials, production processes, and finished products.
- Build positive working relationships with regulatory personnel and serve as a liaison between the company and USDA staff.
- Partner with Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, Shipping, and Sanitation teams to maintain strong quality and food safety practices.
- Provide guidance and training to employees regarding GMPs, HACCP, food safety, and quality requirements.
- Stay current with applicable regulatory and customer requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the COO.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent knowledge and experience will also be considered.
- 2–5 years of experience in a QA Supervisor or similar leadership role within the food industry.
- Experience working in food processing or further processing is a plus.
- Experience with HACCP, food safety, and quality management systems.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and using problem-solving techniques.
- Experience supervising or leading a QA or food safety team.
- Knowledge of poultry and food processing principles.
- General understanding of plant operations, including Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, Shipping, and Sanitation.
Certifications & Technical Knowledge
- HACCP certification required.
- Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification preferred/required.
- Certified Food Safety Manager certification or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety regulations.
- Familiarity with SQF and other food safety and quality management systems.

Work Environment
This position works in both a food production facility and an office environment.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to:
- Food odors
- Fumes, dust, or airborne particles

- Food processing equipment and production activities
Certain products handled by the company contain milk, peanut, and coconut allergens.
Physical Requirements
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Climb ladders when necessary.
- Move throughout the production facility and perform required QA inspections.
