Job summary

Hansen Technologies seeks an Associate Test Engineer to support QA for Hansen CIS, a Java-based enterprise system used across utilities. You will design and execute manual and automated tests, validate functionality against requirements, and ensure quality releases.

You will collaborate with developers, analysts, and product managers, perform REST API and backend testing, and contribute to test plans, data integrity checks, and release readiness in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience testing Java-based applications and browser-based web applications.
• Working knowledge of Oracle databases, including ability to create and execute SQL queries for test validation and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile development methodologies.
• Experience using defect tracking and project management tools such as Jira.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases for Java and web-based enterprise applications.
• Validate application functionality against business requirements, technical specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and exploratory testing across browser-based applications, APIs, and backend services.
• Identify, document, and track software defects through resolution using Jira and associated workflow processes.
• Develop and manage test plans, test suites, and test execution cycles using Xray Test Management for Jira.
• Collaborate with development teams to reproduce issues, verify fixes, and validate release readiness.
• Execute database validation testing and data integrity checks using Oracle SQL queries.
• Support testing of RESTful APIs, web services, and system integrations between enterprise applications.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, retrospectives, and release planning activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the software testing and quality assurance processes.
