Job summary

Shipcom is seeking a QA Engineer in Houston to join our HQ team and own test strategy for our IoT platform solutions. You will design and execute comprehensive manual and automated tests, working with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and performance across web and mobile apps.

The role requires 4+ years in enterprise software testing, hands-on API testing with Postman, and automation with Selenium and Appium.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of proven work experience in enterprise software testing/ quality assurance.
  • Experience in manual testing.
  • Hands-on experience in API testing using Postman or other platforms.
  • Experience in automation testing using Selenium and Appium or similar frameworks.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as React JS.
  • Proficiency with server-side languages such as .Net, C#, Java, Python and PH.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting.
  • Experience with deploying software on cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.
  • Knowledge of code versioning tools and CI/CD.
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodology is required.
  • Superior analytical skills, including ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems.
  • Demonstrated success delivering high quality and innovative products.
  • Ability to engage & influence senior leaders and inspire & motivate other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Design detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured Test Plans, identify all Test Cases and Scenarios, and create Test Scripts and Defect Reports
  • Establish test frameworks and processes for cross-platform testing for web and mobile
  • Identify, record, track and thoroughly document bugs
  • Perform in-depth regression testing when bugs are resolved
  • Monitor debugging process results and aid in root cause investigations
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
  • Design and perform load tests, stress tests and ensure responsiveness of applications
  • Design, develop and execute automation scripts
  • Plan and manage test environment and various test phases for production releases
  • Liaise with internal teams, developers, UI/UX designers and product managers to identify system requirements, product features and user interactions
  • Create and perform User Acceptance Tests with client end users
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
  • Possess ability to stick to timelines and measure progress during development
  • Stay up to date with new testing tools and test strategies

About The Role

Shipcom is looking for a highly skilled QA Engineer who will take on a key role to develop and execute exploratory, manual and automated tests to ensure product quality. The QA engineer must have knowledge in all the testing stages of software development and deployment. This individual will be working alongside other engineers and developers, and will strongly collaborate across various layers for our line‑up of IoT platform solutions.

As a QA engineer, you will ensure the quality and performance of the product. Given Shipcom’s progress in the IoT division, we expect you to grow quickly; as a technical leader on the team, you will drive the testing of end‑to‑end features that are core to the product experience. You will be required to see out a project from conception to final product, requiring good organizational skills and attention to detail. You have excellent problem‑solving skills.

You are curious, love to dive deep, collect data to make well informed decisions, but use sound judgement in the face of insufficient data. You follow the latest technologies. You have strong leadership qualities, and a track record of delivering great solutions.
