Job summary

Fractal is seeking a QA Data Validation Engineer to lead validation of the CRDM migration from SQL Server to Snowflake, ensuring production-ready data and BI reporting. You will design and execute validation strategies, conduct source-to-target comparisons, and validate dashboards and semantic models.

You will also build Python-based automated validation frameworks, coordinate with Data Engineers, BIAs, and SMEs, and help drive UAT and sign-off for complex migrations.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with data warehouse migrations, data quality, ETL testing, and source-to-target validation.
• Strong SQL skills with hands-on SQL Server and Snowflake experience.
• Strong Python experience building automated data validation and reconciliation frameworks.
• Experience testing large datasets, complex transformations, ETL/ELT pipelines, and dimensional data models.
• Experience validating Power BI reports and semantic models; SSAS desirable.
• Experience with test planning, regression testing, UAT, defect management, and Azure DevOps.
• Snowflake Cortex and Snowflake AI Migration experience preferred.

• Perform source-to-target reconciliation using row counts, aggregates, checksums, null/duplicate analysis, and detailed data comparisons.

• Validate Power BI semantic models and reports, including measures, calculations, and filters.
• Validate CRDM dependencies being repointed from on-premises EDW sources to EDP/Snowflake.
• Develop test cases, document results, manage defects, perform regression testing, and support UAT and signoff.
• Partner with Data Engineering and BIAs to investigate discrepancies and ensure migration readiness.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a technically strong QA Data Validation Engineer to support the CRDM migration from on-premises SQL Server to Snowflake. This role will focus on independently validating complex data migrations at scale, automate Python-based reconciliation frameworks, identify root causes of discrepancies. You will work closely alongside our team of additional QA Engineers, Data Engineers, BIAs, and business SMEs to provide clear evidence that migrated data and reporting are production-ready, including BI and Power BI validation, defect tracking, and validation of EDW-to-EDP repointing.

Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $115,000 - $145,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.
