QA Coordinator

Location: Lab (CA) - San Juan Capistrano, CA

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Pay range: $45.57 - $68.31 / hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

This position ensures that the laboratory maintains inspection readiness at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates leadership through accountability and collaboration in daily activities.
  • Consistently demonstrates a high level of initiative and problem‑solving ability.
  • Coordinates efforts to effectively work with others in a way that is productive and promotes teamwork and change. Recognized as an organized participant or leader of meetings.
  • Participates as an active member on the Quality Improvement Team.
  • Ensures continuous quality improvement by collaborating with management to implement standardization and process improvement within the department.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable related activities.
  • Facilitates internal and external audits.
  • In coordination with management, ensures that departmental standard operating procedures and database are regularly updated to accurately reflect current processes.
  • Coordinates internal and external proficiency testing activities.
  • In coordination with management, oversees department training and competency programs.
  • May perform job responsibilities equivalent to a Licensed Scientist, as needed.
  • Complies with all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices. Required to use personal protective equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned. This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities, but rather a general description of work performed by the position.
  • Supports regulatory agencies through documentation, audits and corrective action.
  • Supports, implements and ensures compliance of all department and company Quality Assurance / Quality Control related policies. Performs department Quality Control.
Qualifications
Required Work Experience
  • Minimum of 4‑5 years progressive experience as a scientist/medical technologist in a clinical laboratory which includes at least 2‑4 years of high‑complexity testing and associated methodologies for the applicable position being applied for as a California State Licensed or Limited License Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects. Objects in the weight range of 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects in the weight range of 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally and objects in the weight range of 26 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted and carried. Objects exceeding 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks. Frequent simple grasping, reaching and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
  • Have good eye and hand coordination.
Skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with supervisors, coworkers and clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong typing skills desirable.
  • Other automation skills helpful.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or other life or physical sciences from an accredited college or university (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
  • A current California State Limited License to perform laboratory testing in the applicable specialty (Required)
  • Current State Clinical Laboratory Scientist license if necessary (e.g. California) (Required)
