Job summary

AM Best in Oldwick, NJ is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automated testing across API and UI layers. You will work with Development, Business Analysts and support teams to ensure features are thoroughly tested before release and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.

The role requires hands-on automation with SmartBear TestComplete and ReadyAPI, proficiency in Java or Python, and strong analytical and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 2 to 4 years of software QA and Automation experience.
  • Automation Certification preferred (CT-TAE).
  • SmartBear TestComplete, ReadyAPI, and MABL experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and execute automated tests for API and UI.
  • Document test results to aid debugging and modification.
  • Analyze test results and recommend corrective action.
  • Submit and track product issues found during testing.
  • Participate in test plan and test case reviews.
  • Collaborate with Development, BAs and support teams to cover UI/API/Data layers.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for timely feedback.

Overview

The Quality Assurance team is responsible for all aspects of the testing life cycle including analyzing and testing software and online services to ensure proper functionality and error-free internal and external products. The QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions, while also collaborating with stakeholders and ensuring the integration and maintenance of automation systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design, maintain, and execute automated tests for use in both API and UI test cases by creating reusable code libraries to help build streamlined and efficient automated test processes
  • Maintain documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software
  • Analyze test results to ensure existing functionality and recommend corrective action
  • Submit and track any product issues found during testing to ensure that they are resolved
  • Facilitate and/or participate in test plan and test case reviews and execution
  • Work closely with the Development, Business Analysts and support teams to understand the application’s features and architecture to develop test cases to ensure that the application’s UI / API / Data layers are thoroughly tested before releasing into production
  • Integrate automated tests into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure timely feedback
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 2 to 4 year’s experience in software Quality Assurance and Automation
  • Automation Certification preferred such as Certified Tester Test Automation Engineer (CT-TAE)
  • SmartBear TestComplete, ReadyAPI, and MABL experience preferred
Skills
  • Test automation background in UI driven frameworks via SmartBear TestComplete
  • Test automation background in APIs via SmartBear ReadyAPI
  • Proficiency in a mainstream programming language: must have applicable skills in Java, Python, C++, C# or other language
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Initiative to learn and utilize emerging technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should have proven track record of communicating complex multi-faceted issues to multiple stakeholders
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize various responsibilities, multi-task, manage sub-projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, demanding and changing environment with a high level of independence
  • Must have technical experience screening, triaging and categorizing defects
  • Knowledge of web accessibility best practices and optimization
  • Strong understanding of QA principles, inspection techniques, and testing procedures
