Job summary

Fractal Analytics is seeking a creative QA Architect to lead testing efforts, understand application architecture and end-user requirements, and design and automate test cases to uncover flaws. The role emphasizes automation, collaboration with developers and product owners, and mentoring peers.

The candidate should have 6-12 years of QA experience, strong Java/Python skills, and a proven ability to develop, extend, and execute test frameworks across Windows and Linux environments.

Qualifications

  • 6-12 years of QA/testing experience, including automation
  • Strong Java and/or Python knowledge
  • Experience building, extending, and running test automation frameworks
  • Proficient in SQL with joins
  • Experience with REST APIs and web services
  • Experience with Jira or similar bug trackers
  • Ability to collaborate with developers and product owners to define coverage and tests
  • Experience writing/maintaining test procedures and documentation
  • Ability to create Functional Test Plans from defined requirements
  • Solid understanding of testing concepts and SDLC
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and executing test plans, cases, scenarios, and scripts
  • Ability to identify, document, and track defects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable on Windows and Linux environments

Job Description

Fractal Analytics is looking for a creative and capable QA Architect to help with our testing activities. This lead engineer will apply their skills and experience to understand application architecture and end-user requirements, and design and automate test cases to find flaws in the application.

Responsibilities
  • Write test scenarios from requirements and test cases from test scenarios, both automated and manual, while following release timelines
  • Provide story point estimates for features based on experience, with minimal guidance
  • Create and review automation test scripts
  • Test the application holistically and at each level of integration
  • Identify problems and suggest improvements, or adapt existing methods drawing from past experience and feedback
  • Follow and introduce industry best practices in the software development lifecycle while mentoring colleagues
  • Apply team handling, problem-solving, project management, and creative thinking skills to drive quality outcomes
  • Escalate and resolve technical and module-related issues in a timely manner via the proper escalation matrix
Required Qualifications
  • 6-12 years of experience in QA and testing to include:
  • Automation
  • Product Solutions
  • Product Strategies
  • Strong understanding of Java and/or Python
  • Experience developing, extending, and executing test automation frameworks using various design patterns
  • Proficiency in SQL, including writing queries with joins
  • Understanding of web services and hands‑on experience with REST APIs
  • Working knowledge of Jira or similar bug tracking tools
  • Ability to collaborate with developers and product owners to identify coverage areas and design tests
  • Experience writing and maintaining test procedures and documentation
  • Ability to create Functional Test Plans from lightly defined requirements
  • Sound knowledge of testing concepts, terminologies, SDLC models, and defect lifecycle
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and executing test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts
  • Skill in identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working in both Windows and Linux environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in performance and load testing using JMeter or LoadRunner
  • Experience in security testing
  • Experience integrating automation tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Hudson)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Familiarity with TDD/BDD methodologies
  • ISTQB certification
  • Experience with web and application servers (e.g., Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere)
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $125,000 - $165,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take the time needed for either sick time or vacation.
